Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced sells a whopping 2 million copies in just 24 hours
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has absolutely stormed out of the harbor, selling 2 million copies on its first day.
Ubisoft confirmed that the revamped pirate adventure hit the milestone after launching on July 9, 2026, giving Edward Kenway’s return a very strong start indeed. The company also revealed that Resynced ranked number one on Twitch on launch day and reached a peak of 99,451 concurrent players on Steam within its first 24 hours, making it the highest concurrent player count ever recorded for an Assassin’s Creed game on the platform.
That’s a pretty huge deal for what is technically just a remake of a 2013 game, albeit one that has been rebuilt from the ground up.
It’s also worth putting this 2 million launch day figure up against the original Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. The predecessor launched on October 29, 2013, and Ubisoft later reported that it had reached more than 11 million sell-in and digital units by the end of the 2013-14 financial year.
Now, that is obviously not a one-to-one comparison, since Ubisoft’s older figure refers to sell-in and digital units rather than simply day-one sales, and the fact we’re in a completely different era now. Still, it does give the Resynced launch some context.
Hitting 2 million copies in 24 hours means the remake has already reached a sizeable chunk of the original’s major sales milestone before most of you out there have even got close to completing the story.
It also shows just how much love there still is for Black Flag specifically. Assassin’s Creed has gone through a lot of different ups and downs since Edward first set sail, but the pirate fantasy, naval combat, sea shanties, and Caribbean exploration have clearly stood the test of time.
Ubisoft’s decision to bring back Black Flag looks to be very smart compared to the usual questionable antics of the company, especially in recent times. The original was already one of the series’ most beloved entries, and Resynced now looks like it could become one of its biggest modern success stories too.
