Crowdfunding breathes life into Inexplicable Deaths in Damipolis

Adventure games aren't for dummies. But that doesn't mean they can't star dummies, as we'll now get the chance to find out for ourselves thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign for Inexplicable Deaths in Damipolis: Inner Thoughts.

Players step into the role of an unseen protagonist, who awakens sitting "at the table of a luxurious banquet. You have a terrible headache and no memories of who you are. You look around and you see that everyone is dead but you. Why are they all dead?" And why are you not? These questions, and more, can only be answered by exploring the large mansion in which the mystery is set. Along the way, you must "solve puzzles, dodge traps and investigate thoroughly to discover the heartless and cruel truth(s) in this dismal story with up to four different endings."

Presented in film noir-inspired black and white with the old-time “noise” of aged films, perhaps the most unique characteristic of Inexplicable Deaths in Damipolis is its use of wooden mannequins. This is a world populated by "duman beings", but that doesn't make the tragedy any less real. In fact, the developers promise a story "full of envy, impossible loves, relationships based on pure convenience, illogical hatreds, revenge, blind obsessions…" all of which ended on this fateful night for reasons left for you to uncover. Equally important to the experience are the "hundreds" of objects to collect and puzzles to solve if you're to succeed in your quest.

Created by indie Spanish studio Tiesoft, the game has been in production for over a year, and thanks to the Kickstarter campaign that raised more than $15,000, the developers are hoping to complete the game by October 2018, for release on Windows, Mac, Linux and PS4.
