A brief history of game humor

Written by Eivind Hagerup -

GameSpot takes a brief look at the history of humor in video games, interviewing, among others, Tim Schafer of Double Fine Productions. Schafer is, of course, the creator or collaborator of classics such as Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle and Monkey Island.

Shafer points out that games are a fantasy world where the player can do things that are not entirely possible in the so-called real world. "Yes, in some games you can beat up hookers, but sometimes you can also try to hand the hooker a stack of pancakes or jump on her head," he says.

Hmm. In light of these comments, let's hope Rockstar will make an opening for Tim Schafer when they start working on their next Grand Theft Auto title!
