Games you just reinstalled!

Games you just reinstalled for Nostalgia or Fun factor :D

What game are you re-playing? and Why?

I just reinstalled The longest journey and want to hear the story again, and basically i forgot 70% of the game  it was a long time ago i played it and never actually finished it!

DustyShinigami 04-21-2009 03:48 AM

Reinstalled Sam & Max - Season One yesterday and completed the first episode. Decided to go through the season again whilst i'm waiting for the release of Season Two, but i've decided against it as i'm only going to go through them again on XBLA.

I also reinstalled Riven the other week as i was trying to help FantasySci5 get her version to work.

Terramax 04-21-2009 04:35 AM

Reinstalled 'Sanitarium' on Sunday so I could show it to a friend. We're on the 4th chapter now and, when he had to leave, he didn't want to. He loves it so far.

Fantasysci5 04-21-2009 07:22 AM

Thanks Alucard. :P

If I really like a game, I don't uninstall it. But I have recently reinstalled Syberia to give it another chance, since I didn't like playing the first 10 minutes of it last time.

Reinstalled Laura Bow 2 - The Dagger of Amon Ra, this time well intentioned in finishing it. I'm loving every minute of it!

Aye. No release date has been announced for either Sam & Max or Wallace & Gromit yet. I just hope it's soon.

Despite the fact i've already got them on PC, i can't resist to try them on the 360. I'm curious how well the controls will be implemented and there'll be at least 12 achievements to obtain for each one. :D

Hillseeker 04-23-2009 01:35 AM

Recently I had an urge for a old action RPG game so I reinstalled Divine Divinity.

You lucky SOB. I've played the game so many times over the years, I can't forget the plot :frusty: I think I'm making a pact with myself not to play TLJ until 2015, or maybe 2051 on my deathbed.....

Mayboy 05-12-2009 08:53 AM

Sanitarium and Realms of the Haunting.

thejobloshow 05-15-2009 07:15 AM

Reinstalled Facade to show off the A.I. to a friend. It's been close to four year and I don't know if its technology has truly been played with in other games.

OutlawJim 05-20-2009 04:53 PM

Just reinstalled Secret Files, cus I bought the second one this weekend, but never actually finished the first one. So now I'm gonna play through the first one before I let myself touch 2.

reneuend 05-27-2009 04:35 PM

I got the re-release of Space Quest series last year. It's hard to believe I thought the graphics were so good back then!

Terramax 06-26-2009 12:54 AM

Reinstalled Psychonauts yesterday and have just entered the mind of the Lungfish (just over halfway through the game then). I've been off ill for 3 days and have nothing better to do.

Classy game, although I've not laughed as much this time round, which means I've played Psychonauts through one too many times already.

sTyLnK 06-26-2009 10:37 AM

I just reinstalled The Longest Journey. It's not so long, what are people talking about.. ;)

kadji-kun 06-26-2009 02:24 PM

Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers, Condemned: Criminal Origins, Elder Scrolls Oblivion, Myst series, Post-Mortem, and Realms of the Haunting (one of the most original and best first person shooter adventure horror game. Its just an experience no other game can offer)

@Mayboy: Haha, what the. Finally read your post. What a freaking coincidence. Such a forgotten game and yet we both are replaying it.

This is one of those games I wish I'd played back in the day. Shame it looks so primative now. I don't think I'd get over the graphics and controls to enjoy it now.

I think it still looks great. The controls though have some issues, since i'm so used to the WASD control scheme.

This game had the most groundbreaking visuals for the time, yet it wasn't noticed for that. Such an underrated adventure. It was so interesting to introduce a lot of the Adventure game features like Looking at objects, interacting and collecting items to solve a puzzle.

Also I loved the ability to control the aiming of the gun, sort of like Trespasser, but without the bad controls.

The fmv's were quite well done too. I really wish this game can get a OpenGL frontend. That would be really sweet.

RLacey 06-30-2009 01:39 PM

Funnily enough, I've also recently reinstalled Realms of the Haunting - it's my main game to take on my netbook to Australia, actually, since I bought it a while back but haven't got around to diving into it yet, despite installing it on my last computer and getting it to work.

What I've played of it is extremely interesting.

L-Jazz 07-20-2009 09:25 AM

Reinstalled The Curse of Monkey Island a couple of days ago and I'm loving every minute of it! I'm up at the volcano and I'm gonna make myself a nice Tofu costume soon :D

(I'm kind of in a MI mood right now, recently finished Chapter 1 of Tales and just started the Special Edition of SoMI. Never played the first or second of the series so it's rather nice playing the game where it all started :D)

misslilo 07-20-2009 10:39 PM

And I just reinstalled Paradise, since it came cheap on BigFish.
Didn't wanna have the hassle of getting it to work on my new machine, so this was the easy solution :)

Have forgotten a lot of this game, but enjoys it immensely.

RLacey 07-21-2009 12:39 AM

Reinstalled Guild Wars. Went out and bought the Complete Collection pack, in fact, since until now I've only had the first campaign.

Intense Degree 07-21-2009 01:31 AM

Shivers (the first one). Forgot how much I enjoyed that game when I finally got into it.

Also Age of Empires - still love it!

Roper Klacks 07-21-2009 09:43 AM

Tomb Raider 2. Love it, brings me good memories.

AndreaDraco83 07-21-2009 09:50 AM

Broken Sword 1. I hope that this time I can get through it. I was never a fan, to be honest, but maybe it's because I can get past the horrible Italian voices and George's slow pace.

Jelena 07-21-2009 03:37 PM

I recently re-installed Still Life since I've ordered Still Life 2 and need to fresh up on the story to be able to fully enjoy the sequel.

And yes, I intend to enjoy that game, so no need to tell me that it sucks.
:P

The Italian voices may sound horrible because they're intended to be French XD

NoirYork 07-23-2009 05:18 PM

Theme Hospital for me.

I'm on the last but one level, the furthest I've ever gotten since the game first came out in 97!

Fantasysci5 07-23-2009 07:19 PM

I'm giving Syberia a 2nd try. I hear it's a classic of course, but there seems to be hardly any story or good characters, which is most important to me.

Antaios 07-24-2009 01:47 AM

Reinstalled the first Age of Empires and Operation Stealth.

XXJ 07-24-2009 05:30 AM

The Secret of the Silver Earring

I just reinstalled "The Secret of the Silver Earring".
Because of the many sentences, I gave up the game before.
But. You know, many review article says good things about this game.

So, I recently begun to try this game again.:):):)

Wait, what? What do you mean it hardly has any story or good characters? That exactly what Syberia is all about.

Fantasysci5 07-24-2009 08:51 PM

I'm sorry. I haven't played too much into it, of course, but none of the characters really stick out for me, and I don't hear too good of things about the actual story. It doesn't seem to "kick it up a notch", at least to me of course, and just continues to be about finding Hans, correct? Please, I would love it if you could correct me. Send me a PM if you'd like, because I really wanted to like this game.

I've also just "replayed" (since I don't uninstall) the "Myst" original. The water is pretty static, but I still love it.

Well you have to see Syberia 1 and 2 as one game. First being finding Hans, and the second going to Syberia.

A story is a story, but even if the first game is about finding Hans, there is a lot of lore and atmosphere being built while playing the game. If you haven't found your first companion for the game, then you seriously haven't seen how great the game's characters are.

Honestly, if you haven't play the whole game. There is no reason for you to judge the game, unless its broken or badly made. *cough*Nancy Drew*cough*lol

You're not the only one. I've reinstalled and fired up the first Syberia a few times but I just cannot get into it. The intro FMV was a good introduction, but it just doesn't throw you into the story the same way other more successful games do (BS1, Grim Fandango, Full Throttle). Too slow and not punchy enough.

Also Kate Walker, like April from TLJ, just annoyed me. I can't stand these whiney women with emotional problems. More women like Vic McPherson and Heather from SH3.

P.S. I'm not a misogynist.

I really am not trying to judge the game. If I was, I would have sold it back on Amazon without trying to figure out myself if I like it or not. I'm trying not to judge it, it just doesn't seem like the plot is too interesting. I'm sorry, that's just my opinion.

I know! The graphics are gorgeous, and I really liked the beginning. And I actually liked April fron TLJ, so I don't really have a problem with Kate.

Man, I have been jumping from game to game right now. I finished playing Myst, and now I'm restarting the Kings Quest Collection, since I've only played the 1st and 5th game, and I hear how wonderful the series is, of course.

Little Writer 07-30-2009 12:43 AM

Do you play the original King's Quests or the VGA remakes? I've played them both last year or so and they're great.

I re-installed almost all my old games a couple of weeks a go. Don't know when I'll get around to play them, though. I got nostalgic after playing the free episode (Abe Lincoln must Die) of Sam & Max (can't get the entire game 'cause it's download only and I don't yet have the facilities). So I installed all the old Lucasfilm/LucasArts adventure games using ScummVM, Gabriel Knight 3 (which I finished already) and The Longest Journey which I'm currently playing.

Fantasysci5 07-30-2009 08:59 AM

Well, I played the VGA remake of the 1st game, since the graphics were so much more realistic, but the rest I played the originals. I actually got used to and even started to like the graphics of the early games. :P
