The Witcher 2 - 2nd playthrough form the perspective of Roche this time.

Fantasysci5 06-08-2011 11:56 AM

Started playing through King's Bounty: Armored Princess, which I got on sale along with the first game again and Crossworlds for $8. I really loved the first game, but it's taking me a bit to like this game.

For some reason, I'm having a lot of trouble winning battles. The first game I played on normal, and this one as well, so I may have to be cheap and put it on easy. Second, the pet dragon is too cute. I like cute, I'm all for cute. The thorns in the first game that scratched behind its ears like a dog, loved it. But I don't like the pet dragon. He's too cute, with the animations of the tree and sleeping, and it feels like something from a kid's game. I haven't gotten very far in it yet, but right now I'm not thrilled.

I think the different types have slightly different mannerisms, but I could be wrong. They don't really grow much physically through the game but they do get more aggressive powers. It is an overdose of cute though. I came around eventually.

Also, this one has flying horses... so yeah.

Fantasysci5 06-09-2011 09:35 AM

Ugh, flying horses. I know it's fantasy, but I like my fantasy to make since and be 'realistic' in the context...this, no.

Axelfish 06-09-2011 01:48 PM

Ha, you're one of the very few people I've seen on the net that dislikes Grim Fandango. I know, different opinions and all, but it saddens me for some reason. I thought GF had the power to charm anyone.

But anyway, King's Bounty is great. And the expansion you're playing is also very long, though after a while it does fall into predictable routine.

I've just completed The Whispered World, and I'm still playing Portal 2 and the latest Mortal Kombat. The latter is the best fighting game in years.

Fantasysci5 06-09-2011 07:05 PM

Axelfish-Who me? Yeah, I heard about how awesome the storyline for "Grim Fandango" was, and I really wanted to like it. But the first few puzzles seemed ridiculously random to me, and the conversations were too funny for my tastes. I also dislike Syberia, which is another fan-favorite. But I like games that others don't, like "The Longest Journey" or "The Lost Crown" especially. <3

Yeah, Kings Bounty is predictable, but I don't mind. :) I just have this thing that if I'm out of troops of a specific type I like, I try not to loose any, which sees me redoing battles a lot, and never getting hardly anywhere.

Axelfish 06-16-2011 02:31 PM

I got Alice:Madness Returns and Dead Space 2. So far I've only just started Alice and it seems really cool. I was quite a big fan of the original upon release, and looks like this sequel won't disappoint.

Fantasysci5 06-20-2011 10:30 AM

I have so much trouble with departing storylines and moral choices. You know how in "The Longest Journey" you could either go to work or watch a movie, but it basically doesn't matter? I still fret over it, and go back to a save game and run both scenerios. And in the "Choose Your Own Adventure" books, I always kept a finger on the page and flipped to both choices to see what would be better.

So I'm playing "Kings Bounty: Armored Princess" and enjoying it. But I want a new companion, but I jsut can't seem to kick out my old companion because he's in love with me and so sweet, even though the other companion would work better with my troops. And these trees want me to kill this guy, but I like the guy, he's trying to be better! :frusty:

Yes I too have been playing Alice: Madness Returns and it takes me back to the original. It's great all the dynamics feel the same but with much better visuals and design. Playing Dead Space 2 also... awesome.

Games I'm currently playing:
Whispered World
L.A Noire
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Alice: Madness Returns
Dead Space 2
Crysis 2

Fantasysci5 06-23-2011 06:07 PM

That's a lot of games you're balancing right there. I can only do two or three at a time, if they are of different genres, lower if the same. :P

I'm still enjoying my "Kings Bounty: Armored Princess" playthrough, but I'm also wanting to start either "The Last Express" or "The Witcher".

DustyShinigami 06-24-2011 03:48 AM

I'm still taking it slow in San Andreas and have about 73% completed; nearly 3 quarters finished! I'm currently finishing off all the side missions in Las Venturas before I return to the main story. I've completed the two stadium events there and next I'll be tackling the Burger Shot Courier mission.

I'm on chapter 2 in Call of Cthulhu and I'm stuck in the basement of the Methodist church.

As for Alice, I'm waiting for it to arrive in the mail. :P

Playing War Pinball HD and Slayer Pinball Rocks HD, as well as Perfect Cell.

The first two are easily the best pinball tables on iOS. WPHD is pure gold but Slayer Pinball was only just released and has a few bugs/issues. Between the two, unless you're a giant Slayer fan, get War Pinball. It has three tables rather than just the one. Tables based on the movies Platoon, Navy Seals and Missing in Action.

That's three tables chock full of voice clips, and MIA even has a giant bust of Chuck Norris with a machine gun that fires...

http://members.optushome.com.au/crun...h/IMG_0031.jpg
You can just make out the bust in this pic, below the scoreboard.

Perfect Cell is not a pinball game. Its a great touch only controlled game that blends the X-files with gameplay akin to the wonderful Nintendo DS title Soul Bubbles.

I have a somewhat stalled game of Divine Divinity going, and I'm stalled right where I always get stalled, in the farmlands. Its the game's first low point after the hair pullingly hard but fun first dungeon. I really want to finish the game a second time but I've only managed it once, years ago.

Iwatchyousleep 06-29-2011 12:49 PM

I have one thing to say...The Legend Of Zelda:Ocarina Of Time 3D

Arwen4CJ 06-30-2011 06:39 AM

Well, I WAS on chapter 5 of King's Quest 7, right where you pick up a fire cracker. However, I had to start the game over because it saved it right before she blew up, and when I click on retry, it just killed me immediately. I tried playing it on the XP collection. So I thought the mistake was mine in that I hadn't had the game on pause or something. The game has only one save slot per "name," so I can't go back to an earlier point in the game.

So I started the whole thing over....but this time I decided to play it on the older collection that I had, remembering that it had some sort of bookmark feature, which I thought might protect me against this kind of thing...but the exact same thing happened :( As soon as I got the fire cracker, the character exploded. This time I knew that it wasn't my fault.

Therefore, I decided to look up the error...and I came across this site. I was able to install the stuff on my XP part of the computer (this is a Macbook), but now I have to start all over AGAIN because it reinstalled the games, deleting my save slot.

So....I guess you could say I'm at the beginning of KQ7.

Playing Portal 2, very fun game and just a couple of chapters in. Great puzzle design and funny dialog so enjoying it so far.

Axelfish 07-01-2011 10:16 AM

Yea, Wheatley is a riot. Excellently acted.
Wait till you get to the talking turrets; hilarious.

Oscar 07-02-2011 04:02 AM

About halfway through Dungeon Siege 3. By the reputation it has you would expect it to be a boring and technically poor dungeon crawler. It's actually pretty fun and addictive so I really don't know what the reviews are talking about.

Weare6 07-03-2011 09:10 PM

Half way through Whispered World.
Still playing Black Mirror 2.
just finish MOH (latest game).
About 67% through Arkham Asylum.
Started playing the new Wolfenstien Game again.
Not enough time in my day damn it.

Fantasysci5 07-13-2011 06:08 PM

Playing "Grand Theft Auto 4" for the first time. I love it. I'm not used to playing on the console, so trying to steer on a controller with a cast on one hand is a bit tricky, but I'm enjoying it. The action sequences are a little too hard for me, who isn't used to it, but I love shopping and dating and driving. Bowling and other "activities" are fun, but there's a LOT of talking in this game! :P

I´m replaying it at the moment, but only the required missions before I´ll start the two
"Episodes from Liberty City" for the first time.

I´ve already completed it 100% couple of years ago (was it 2008 ?, dunno)
and certainly won´t hunt down all the pigeons again :D

Jazhara7 07-18-2011 03:22 AM

Just started "Sam & Max Episode 1: Culture Shock", after having finally played "Tales of Monkey Island". Also, am going to play all the other games that were in the Telltale Developer pack offered at Steam until recently.

Also, am planning to continue and finish "Fallout: New Vegas" finally, after having gotten a bit sidetrack out of frustration with not managing to get through that one sequence with all needed people alive after several tries.

Also have started playing the "Gothic" series. The controls take a bit getting used to, but it's looking good nevertheless.

Maybe will again play some Morrowind soon. :)

Also, still waiting for the Ajantis mod for Baldur's Gate 2 to finally be released so I can at last install the Big World Project. Am considering to leave it out after all if it isn't released soon. >_<

Am planning on playing the Witcher 2 soon. And also finally completing the Witcher 1.

Am going to try and catch up with the "Reality-on-the-Norm" series again. Shouldn't be too hard, seeing as the games are never too long.

You've just reminded me that I've got so much to do still in that game. Not having been able to finish it during my relatively short periods of time at home have made it drift to the back of my mind.

Shame, as I enjoy it when I get into the swing of things.

Little Writer 07-19-2011 12:25 AM

Been playing "Assassin's Creed 2" again. I've got this hard murder contract where I have to kill 10 brutes in 60 seconds. Most I got was 5 LOL, and that's counting the 2 I automatically get by jumping on top of them from a nearby roof. They just keep blocking me, and I can't counter because when I target one, it's always another one that actually strikes so either I get killed, or I run out of time. I guess this one needs a new strategy.

Fantasysci5 07-19-2011 09:55 AM

I can't believe that you can just cruize all around Liberty City in GTA IV and there's so much detail, so many shops that feel real, and so many ads for pretend places, and you don't even go to half of them. <3

And when Niko had to save Roman, I felt raw emotion there, it was an amazing scene for me. <3

I've still never played any of the GTAs before. I keep meaning to, though.
You might like LA Noire though, if you enjoy the feel of the open environment but combined with a more tightly structured adventure game-style narrative.

TheLongestJourney 07-21-2011 09:12 AM

Almost finished playing the single player part of portal 2, then Syberia II up next. Can't wait.

Crunchy in milk 08-08-2011 01:02 PM

It took a silly (long) amount of time to get set up but I'm finally playing New Vegas again. Going for a Grindhouse-trash vibe, playing as a Samurai/Cowboy wannabe.

It took an age to track down updated versions of some favourite mods as well as new ones to get the visual look just right. Imaginarium tweaks, lighting and effects, cinematech film grain, grindhouse shaders... and most importanly, ponchos!

Hopefully it won't crash too much.

Last time I played a pro-NCR Miss Fortune character (female Batman from the 30s), complete with her outfit. This time I think I'll stay neutral. I never can play pro-Ceasar's Legion characters. I hate 'myself' too much and give up.

Panthera 08-08-2011 06:05 PM

Has managed the impressive feat of having played over 20 hours of Oblivion, and my character just reached level 3.

How? Well, I was completely new to Oblivion and the Morrowind universe, and wanted a character that was strong and could withstand some damage, so I made a heavy armor, block/blade, destruction/restoration hybrid, with all my 7 majors in combat abilities.
But, playing the game, I've ended up doing most of the non-combat quests, enjoying talking to people and practicing alchemy, and really managed to train every other skill than my majors..

Should probably reroll now that I understand the game better, but I'd have to redo so much.. :S

Stonez 08-12-2011 11:09 AM

I'm playing Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, and have a Toreador with maxed out celerity, mellee and brawl. It's hilarious now, because I just got through "Italian Dinner" like a whirling Dervish. lol

I'm also playing through The Lost Crown again and I'm at the church... Spooky! In Just Cause 2, I'm creating mayhem and playing without any real direction. The last two games I'm involved in are Star Trek Online - L'mur@Stonez and X3: Terran Conflict. Vice Admiral in the former and scardy-cat profiteer in the latter...

Hoipolloi 08-13-2011 09:38 PM

Just finished Dead Cyborg, Episode 1. I'm not a huge fan of freebie games, but this one is exactly to my taste. SciFi setting, goofy athmosphere, funny lines and queer philosophy, lots of running around searching for levers & stuff. The keyboard controls take a little getting used to, but it strangely feels like the old Tomb Raider without Lara Croft... if you take my meaning.

Trying to play Zork 1, but having a hard time. I don't mind having no pictures, but if only the map I'm trying to draw would come out right! Everytime I enter a new room, I draw it on the map, but if I entered from the south, and I try to go back south, it leads me to a room I've never been to before!!

Hammerite 08-15-2011 03:07 PM

... and then you get eaten by a grue.

Axelfish 08-19-2011 10:06 AM

I remember Return to Zork. That was a fun title. Wasn't it one of the first voiced games? Anyhow, I recall having to pass through some forest maze at one point-that was pretty discouraging. Ugh, how I dislike labyrinths!:frusty:

Fantasysci5 08-19-2011 10:48 AM

Arg, I think I hate mazes/laybrinths the most, besides maybe sound puzzles. >:( lol

Little Writer 08-22-2011 11:00 AM

I just started "Secret Files 2". I love how there's a picture of the Atomium in Nina's cabin on the boat, but I dislike the new voice actress; that's not the Nina I came to love in her Tunguska adventure!

terhardp 08-23-2011 11:14 PM

Yesterday, I've started playing "Broken Sword - The Shadow of the Templars: The Director's Cut". At first, I've thought that I was going to skip the remastered versions of both "Broken Sword" games, but the games dry season just kicked in for me. I've finished the first part of the game with Nico, and today I will continue with George at the cafe. There are some details about the game that I don't like much, such as mini-portraits during the dialogs and the fact that the game doesn't begin with the famous "Paris in the Fall" phrase. Still, the spirit of "Broken Sword" can be felt in the air. So far, I can tell there is enough story differences from the original as well as the visual appearance of the game to make it "worth playing" to the fans like me who have played the original games several times. I expect the same from the remastered version of "The Smoking Mirror" which I will play next. The original "The Smoking Mirror" was the first adventure game I've played on the PC, so it will always have a special place in my heart.

The big question is, should one recommend the newcommer to "Broken Sword" to skip the originals and start with the remastered versions instead? I think not, but the seasoned fans will IMO find enough reasons to reexperience the games this way.

D.C. 08-24-2011 01:23 PM

I just got an iPad last Friday and have been pondering whether to get the Broken Sword games from the App Store. Just when I decide it's probably worth it, I read a really negative review. Then when I'm convinced not to get it I read an upbeat, positive review. :D No Paris in the Fall, though? Usually those words instantly make me want to play the game. Takes me back to the first time I saw Broken Sword with my brother and watched the opening credits in awe. I remember reading that nothing was cut from the second game's remastered version. Is that right?

Either way, the decision will have to wait. Next up for me is Deus Ex: Human Revolution...

Rolandesch 10-05-2011 02:36 AM

Well I really got myself into a mess these last few months because I am playing through loads of games (which is bad, very bad) and all of them are not finished because of other games that came my way not because I got bored of them and it is a endless cycle which I can't seem to break so anyway here they are:

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice For All
Loved the first game and finnaly got round to start playing this one, I'm only at the 2nd chapter but I like what I see :)

Fallout: New Vegas
I have already finished it once but started it all over again the moment I finished, I just couldn't leave all those undiscovered locations and DLC's unplayed :)

Dragon Age 2
I really hate myself because of this one, I'm on the last chapter and I can't finish the game because of Fallout, damn you post-apocalyptic splendor! Damn you!

Wild Arms
I also play when I have the time to PS1 rpg's that I either never played or never finished when they were hot stuff, WA being one of them

Vandal Hearts 2
This one has been one of my greatest failings as a gamer, played it when it was fresh years and years ago and got to the final battle and my memory card got erased. I am only just now trying to finish it for the very first time in order to redeem myself of what I now suspect was a curse! Oh memory cards such a wonderful love-hate realtionship we had

Professor Layton and the Unwound future
I think I'm at about half the game, solving a few puzzles here and there. Thank God the game reminds you of whats been happening so far or I wouldn't remember a thing

LEGO Everything!
My brother and I are playing through all of the Lego games, haven't finished a single one. Batman. Pirates. Star Wars. Harry Potter. I'm getting a headache.

Hector Badge of Carnage episode 2
Good thing it's short.

Gemini Rue
Play it every night before I go to sleep. Then I fall asleep. Damn you wireless mouse and keyboard!

Lure of the Temptress
Got it free from GOG, never played it. Should be good.

Driver: San Francisco
Well I'm officially an idiot but it is such a great game, I have been waiting for a good Driver game for so long and it is finally here :)

PES 2011
This is an honourable mention since all of my time is spent playing multiplayer with my brother and cousin.

And yes I have a job, not for long though :D

Crunchy in milk 10-08-2011 04:43 PM

I've given Two Worlds II a fair shake, playing almost to chapter 3 for nearly a week and I just can't finish it. Its so terribly boring. As pretty as the landscape is and as varied as the monters are it does not feel like a world.

For one thing the entire game is fetch quests given by npcs who literally lie around on beds or sit on their asses. Its a criticism you could level at most crpgs but in TWT they go to great lengths to insult you with it.

So why did I play it for a week? As I said, its pretty to look at and the setting isnt medieval england with orcs and dragons. I tried to break the bordom up with horse racing and sailing the sea on apretty good simulation of a sailboat.

Aimlessly wandering an open world gets dull eventually and I could care less about fighting Gandohar any more when that fight is undoubtably going to be just like every fight getting to him. And my just reward will be some shit heel npc getting off their chair or bed long enough to grudgingly thank me, as though they did me a favour sending me on the quest in the first place, and offering me 50 cents as a reward to add to my bazillian dollars stockpile from selling all the mook's weapons gathered from my slain foes.

SamuelGordon 10-08-2011 06:26 PM

I just bought Baldur's Gate 1&2 from GOG, i absolutely loved Planescape and it uses the same engine (d&d universe rules). Used BTG mod to paste them together, widescreen and some mods, fixpacks, etc. I'm just at the beginning but already having immense of fun.

I'm going the NEUTRAL EVIL path muahaha:devil:
