In fact, thinking further about it, it may WELL have been McNamara. Think about it. McNamara was himself part of the experiment, hence why he still had outbursts of violence. Prior to being assigned to the case, he might have been the person shooting a gun at each of the five cell doors. The memory erasure part of the experiment perhaps actually worked to some extent, and could account for him not even realising it was him that was in the footage of the video tape.
