That makes sense. I had a different, more possivite idea. At the end of the game, David sorts things up somewhat, regarding his past and his wife. She forgives him, the cops do find him, but the whole scandal is revealed in a lengthy trial. After a brief period in jail (or, not even that), the two rejoin and live happily ever after. With a little help from therapy, of course.
