Psychonauts 2
Well, Tim Schafer has been saying for a long time now that he'd want to do Psychonauts 2, but there have always been funding problems. However, now Markus "Notch" Persson, who became a millionaire through Minecraft, said that he wants to fund the game (and is serious about it).
Here's an article about it: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/20...-psychonauts-2 So, perhaps it is possible? Psychonauts definitely deserves a sequel, and has recently been getting some new publicity (for example with new releases on PC etc.), so this boosts the chances too. I'm pretty psyched up about this! :D |
Enjoyed the game but never finished it because one level was simply too hard for me. Can't remember where I got stuck but I do remember having fun playing it.
|
Cool to see Psychonauts 2 might happen. Not cool to see the Douchebag Notch stick his dick into everything.
|
I will literally freak out if this happens. Psychonauts is one of my favorite games of all time.

This is great news! I really hope it gets made.
|
Yeah that'd be cool. I love Notch even more now.
|
Psychonauts 2.. awesome idea, but notch is not who i would to have any say in development of such a game
|
The impression I get is he'd just be helping get the game funded. This is pretty damn promising news. I'm trying hard not to get carried away yet. Here's hoping all goes to plan and we get an awesome sequel.
|
Who in the right mind believes that people that fund a project don't have a say in it?
|
I totally wouldn't read too much into a tweet, and I honestly wouldn't have expected it to blow up in gaming media like this (notch neither, probably). It's twitter.
|
That's true, man. Though for something as obscure as Psychonauts makes me think he might just be a fan who happens to be in a position where he can do something about getting a sequel. (The dream of Gabriel Knight fanboys everywhere... :D) All just speculation, but I'm hoping for the best...

helping double fine?
notch? please... if anything, he's only interested in helping himself. |
What's with all the hate for notch? Honest question, I have no idea what the guy did (or said) besides making that blocky crafty java thing.
|
^ Yeah, please educate us on this alleged dickishness since you're at it.

just learned about this news on a different site.
pretty much the best news ever. And im sure there are much much more annoying people who have funded great games, but you just didnt hear their name because they werent famous :P |

As far as i know, its just because hes a strongly opinionated, grandiose, over-night millionare.
An example of his grandiose behavior would be announcing over twitter his intentions to get a psychonauts sequel made :P But who cares? The guy obviously has great creative energy and wants to potentially support a sequel to psychonauts. I cant imagine complaining. |

"Schafer promises he and Notch are having a "lovely chat" about the possibility, and jokingly says the indie millionaire is a tough negotiator -- at his insistence that the game be dubbed "PsychoNotch.""
~Joystiq Even if it was a joke, I some how don't think its very far off from the truth. lol |
^ Maybe Raz will now need to enter Notch's mind. Aren't you specially eager to explore his nightmares?

And still no-one from the Notch-bashing crew has explained what their problem with Notch is... |
I already explained myself. Its his hipster/douchebag attitude toward other game developers.
|
Actions speak louder than words, I think.
And I like that he's just a normal guy who happens to have a lot of money. |
Well the real opinion should start when development begins so I guess i'll give it all a chance.

I'm not that up-to-speed on inter-developer relations... |

Some people on this forum (not to mention any names) are just very sensitive and can't take any kind of criticism no matter how appropriate it is. There's nothing wrong with Notch.

Is it just me, or did Notch become an arrogant little fucker now. He has all this money, he’s doing stupid shit to top it all off. He’s violating copy right infringement laws. Don’t get me wrong; I was supporting him when Zani was suing him for the copyright thing. But, I read more into it and yeah it’s completely his fault. Notch was being a dick. Also, on top of it. He makes fun of Bethesda’s attorneys and challenges them to a game of Quake. Yeah it was funny at the time, but he wasn’t taking any responsible action. Plus this: http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/10/25/no...s-not-players/ Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. But Notch is jumping the gun when making this absurd statement. Imma go ahead and say that he started becoming a douche bag when “I don’t even check the price of my groceries anymore” was stated by him in an interview. But really? Is he a douchebag cause he’s finally rich as fuck; or was he always a douchebag? " His ego is so huge he thing he is better than everyone. Its not criticism, its not jealousy. Its the fact he literally is a complete DBag. When someone does something that bothers you, you would talk to them and they most likely will respect what you have said and make changes.....not use excessive sarcasm and make dry jokes and not do anything at all like Notch does in practically all things related to the professional game industry. |

And come on when you're famous, every sentence you ever say or write gets analyzed by millions of people who slant your words into things which can become totally out of context. It's possible to make any famous person look like a total idiot. But alright. You just don't share his views or sense of humor and I suppose there's nothing any more discussion will do to change that. :) |

I got my boyfriend to play Psychonauts by gifting it to him on Steam (it's not that he didn't want to, but rather that he didn't have time, and a stack of other games he wanted to get to at some point. Like many of us, I imagine. :) ). He enjoys it, but finds that playing it with Mouse and Keyboard is very hard. That's what I felt back when I first played it too, but the now I played with an Xbox 360 controller, and it worked great. Also, they seem to have changed some really nasty parts (read: That one escort at the end) to be a lot less annoying.
And now I got my dear an original Xbox "Duke" controller (you know, the one you could knock someone out with in real life. My dear is tall, and it's just the right size to be comfortable for him. :) ), plus two adapters so that he can use it. So yeah, soon he'll be able to play Psychonauts without the distraction of slightly annoying controls. - :) :) :) :) :) :) :) |
