And now for something completely different: Communist Game Reviews!

I mean you've seen it all, weird places are all over the web, from Christian Gamers to Adventure Gamers to (dear Lord :P) Women Gamers and so on. And so on. This is.. see yourself. Excerpt:

Quote:

"Red Alert" is 100% pure grade ruling class propraganda and serves as an excellent example as such. The ruling class perspective is the only education this game will provide. Sadly, for many Western teens, games such as Red Alert will be among their only education about the USSR and communism. "Command and Conquer: Red Alert" revels in violence. In effect, it is fascist-sympathizing, as it assumes that the removal of Hitler (and fascism) would be a negative thing. This attitude is similar to the sick people on the internet who populate a variety of forums and ask "Why didn't the Western Allies and Nazis team up to defeat communism?" as if it would have been the most desirable result.
Errr... refreshing. Looking forward to read their Kotor review RIGHT NOW. :D

edit: Screw that, I'm gonna do Capitalism2 first. Hahah.

All in all, the Cossacks/Knights of the Old Republic is one of the most manipulative pieces of software ever devised. It leeches morality of young minds and prepares them to kill their peers to prevent a revolution. After all... the strong fascist knight shall always win.
ROFLMAO

That may be your opinion of Myst, but what has that actually got to do with this thread?

Aide from the harsh language, and the funny ;) comments about games at the linked site, please note that the US Military has made a game called 'america's army' like there are games out there where you play as US military Navy Seal or a US Marine like Operation Desert Storm and probably other games as well, like Vietnam 1+2.

I will let you draw your own conclusions as to why the US military does this...

As for the linked side review of the KOTOR, I need to say that they probably didn't even play the game. If they had done, they would have discovered that it is 'evil' to kill your friends to win. And that the game, afaik, actually is about some sort of revolution, irrc.

Anyway, while you can laugh & scoff at the site's review you can' deny that even videogames doesn't exit in a void or vacuum, free from society's general influences on them, videogames, that is.

OMG a review of America's Army would be like Easter, Christmas, Glasnost and Perestrojka... COMBINED. I think I'm going to send them a request by mail. :D Muchos gracias, aries.

In Soviet Russia... uh, Myst... hates... uhh...you?

Catbert 04-11-2007 05:40 PM

In Soviet Russia, you suck Myst!

samIamsad 04-12-2007 09:17 AM

...and no one can hear you scream.

Erm, does anybody know the full story behind "Tetris"? Video games and politics. You can't have one without the other..

Maquisard 04-16-2007 11:00 AM

They should review Red Faction. There's a great pro-union game if I ever saw one.
