Forum glitches, or just me?

I've been trying to reply to stuff for an hour now, but nothing seems to work, except for setting a proxy server in Firefox (get thesame thing in IE). Somehow using my ISP's proxy fixes it all, without it all I get (when replying/posting/sending PMs) is this:
Quote:

Bad Request

Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
Apache/2.0.48 (Fedora) Server at adventuregamers.com Port 80
Very odd stuff, has anyone else had this problem?

Dale Baldwin 02-23-2006 03:43 AM

The forum's taken a disliking to you ;)

jjacob 02-23-2006 04:08 AM

Damnit! And I'm so likeable! :D Seriously though, is there something wrong with the forum? Because using a proxy server sucks for a lot of other websites :(

Dale Baldwin 02-23-2006 04:14 AM

There aren't any problems that I'm personally aware of.

jjacob 02-23-2006 05:07 AM

Guess it's my firefox/IE/windows then :( Reinstalling FF didn't help in any case, oh well, stick with the proxy then, thanks anyway :)

nikoniko 02-23-2006 07:05 AM

Oops, they banned you instead of SJH. :P

jjacob 02-23-2006 07:13 AM

LMAO :D Nah, I think I would've known :P

Jackal 02-23-2006 07:52 AM

The forum has been really sluggish for me off and on yesterday and today. No error messages, but some serious hang-ups (the forum, I mean, not me. :P)

Melanie68 02-23-2006 07:55 AM

Ditto here. It's been better today but yesterday I couldn't even access the site starting at about 8:15 am (GMT minus 8 hours). It was the same with Idle Thumbs too (main page).

jjacob 02-23-2006 07:57 AM

Ah, that could explain it. Do IdleThumbs and AG.com utilize thesame servers?

RLacey 02-23-2006 07:57 AM

Yes :).

Yesterday the site was running like an arthritic snail with a wooden leg. It feels like it's back to usual for me, though.

Yes.

RLacey 02-23-2006 08:12 AM

I spoke too soon. Browsing these forums seems to be generally fine at the moment, though sometimes I have to refresh the page to get it to load anything .

The same here.

tabacco 02-23-2006 10:22 PM

I'm not at all sure about the error message, but the slowness the other morning was resolved. My cell phone woke me up around 8:30 with a bunch of pages about HTTP timeouts, so I rebooted the server, and went back to sleep.

You sleep with it on? I would have chucked that thing across the room had it woken me at such an hour. :pan:

tabacco 02-24-2006 12:26 PM

That's the whole point of getting paged with server alerts. If I got a warning at 1am and didn't wake up til 8 or 9, that's be 7-8 hours of possible downtime.

fov 02-24-2006 01:17 PM

That's dedication!

I'd say! Wow :)

Lucien21 03-03-2006 10:07 AM

This site is varying between being as slow as a frozen snail and not being able to get in.

Is it just me or is the site knackered :frown:

fov 03-03-2006 10:24 AM

Seems okay now, but it was being bitchy for about 20 minutes.

tabacco 03-03-2006 11:08 AM

load's at 0.63, bandwidth usage is normal, and it seems fine for me, so it could be a routing problem between you and it?

fov 03-03-2006 11:13 AM

Dunno. I was having trouble with the forums, main site, and Horde (AG webmail)... all other websites were fine. :D

It's working now, though.

Lucien21 03-03-2006 11:20 AM

It seems ok now.

Wierd.

fov 03-08-2006 09:31 AM

Doug, it's happening again. Really long load times here and on webmail, and it was like this on my computer at home as well as now at work. Started at about 8:30 this morning.

(Idle Thumbs is slow too.)

Legolas813 03-08-2006 10:47 AM

I've been trying for the past hour to get onto AG. Finally got through. The page refused to load.

Kolzig 03-08-2006 10:57 AM

I had some problems with AG being slow about an hour ago, but now everything is normal again.

RLacey 03-08-2006 10:59 AM

Everything is fine over here at the moment.

tabacco 03-08-2006 11:04 AM

I'm still not seeing any problems here, and I didn't get any warnings about excessive server load or http timeouts. I don't know what to tell you guys, since I can't reproduce the problem you're having.

fov 03-08-2006 11:08 AM

Weird. It only got better for me about 20 minutes ago. The server probably saw you come online and decided to behave. :shifty:

Huz 03-08-2006 12:49 PM

Access to the server seemed flaky for a few hours, Tabso - there was consistently around 50% packet loss somewhere at The Planet. The traceroutes have scrolled away so I couldn't tell you exactly where. It stopped soon after fov's post in this thread, and there's no packet loss any more.

Hope this might help...

Kurufinwe 03-09-2006 09:14 AM

It's doing it again, isn't it? (and it's about the same time as yesterday...)

Legolas813 03-09-2006 09:15 AM

Yes and yes.

tabacco 03-09-2006 10:05 AM

I'm still not seeing any issues reported by our server or any of The Planet's monitoring processes. Yesterday there was some packet loss happening in Hurricane Electric's network in the afternoon, but that's all I could find.

fov 03-09-2006 10:08 AM

I'm not having any problems this morning. But I was offline from about 8:30 until a few minutes ago.

Dale Baldwin 03-09-2006 10:17 AM

Glottis couldn't access the RSS feed for about half an hour or so (about when Kurufinwe posted).

tabacco 03-09-2006 10:24 AM

Well, all I can tell you guys is that if some people are having connection issues and some aren't, then odds are good that it's not a problem I can fix.

Dale Baldwin 03-09-2006 10:28 AM

Yeah. I was having no problems actually accessing the site myself. (Yesterday on the other hand was a different story).

Is there anyone in particular we should be reporting issues to? (On the provider end, I mean.)
