Last week something else happened which landed me in the hospital again for a night. Luckily they managed to sort of fix it for now, but I now have two operations waiting for me instead of one. The miracle that I've been waiting and hoping for turned out to be from hell. I will get through this all, but I hope there will be another get together soon which I can attend.
I look forward to the Skype session! Hopefully I'm out of the hospital by then because there is no WiFi there, and mobile phone reception is pretty bad there too.

:(

Sorry to hear that tsa. I'm sure we will arrange another meet when you are able to join us. The invitation to come to Hastings yourself is an open one if you wish to come at another time.

Is the address you PMed me in August 2010 still valid?

tsa 05-01-2012 11:37 AM

Yes but I'm now at my parents'. I'll PM you the address.

stepurhan 05-01-2012 12:11 PM

Some joining instructions. The intended meeting place is the centre of Hastings. It is sometimes known as the memorial (the War Memorial used to stand on the site), the bottom end of Havelock Road, or Wellington Place (which is the pedestrianised area next to the road). It looks like this.

For people coming by train. Coming out of the station you will see bus shelters in front of you and this building to your left.

More or less ahead you should see this, which is the way you need to go.

Unless I win the lottery and can get a sky-writeer to do it, there won't be a big red arrow on the day. Basically exit the station by the main road out, cross at the cross roads, and go straight down the road opposite. To be clear, this is the view at the crossroads of the road you should be going down. It's called Havelock Road.

For those coming by car, the easiest car park to find is on the sea-front just east of the town centre. It is opposite this magnificent edifice (which is called Pelham Crescent)

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...amCrescent.jpg

Parking for 10 hours (which should cover the day) is £6. Cross to the Pelham Crescent side after parking, turn left and go through a little tunnel to get to the meet place.

Priory Meadow, the main shopping centre, also has a car park, which marginally cheaper and open from 7am to midnight. It is a little trickier to find, but not badly signposted.

If you would prefer free parking, you'd have to travel a bit further to the meet place, but PM me and I can recommend some places.

Anyone coming by another method, let me know and I will sort out personal directions.

I have booked the meal for 5:00pm. Apart from the original meet time of 10:30am, this is the only absolutely fixed point in the day. We want to finish the meal by 7:30pm as a hen night is due in (they won't throw us out but it could get rowdy) but that shouldn't be a problem.

Any other queries, either post here or PM me.

Also feel free to post here or PM

Fantasysci5 05-01-2012 12:38 PM

I might get lost, but I was going to try and come in the day before and try to find the spot, so I can be there on time on the day. :P

Thanks for the pictures, Step. I think it'll help. :)

I am really excited about this, and nervous, this is my first time abroad!
Have always wanted to go to England, it has always been my “Land of Dreams”!:D

But I am starting to feel that I will be the fifth wheel here…
You have all been on AG very long and seem to know each other very well.
My first worry is how I am supposed to find you all? I won´t bring any computer since I don´t own a portable one, and I have no idea if my mobile works outside of Sweden. (Gonna have to figure that out somehow…)

Does anyone of you have any ideas?

I will arrive quite early on Friday so I should have enough time to get lost, if you know what I mean! (I have absolutely no sense of direction…)
For the meeting place I guess I can ask for directions to the memorial? Or can I give the name of a café or something?

Jelena 05-02-2012 09:48 AM

Majsan
I'll PM you my phone number and we can meet up and go to the meeting place together.
I'm staying at a hotel called Alexander's. Perhaps there are more of us living there.

You can also look for a bloke like this in Hastings town centre.

Ask for Jempsons Cafe (it's in the picture of the meet place itself) or Costa or Cafe Nero (behind the camera in the picture of the meet place) or simply the pedestrian area at the centre of town. Since the memorial has been gone for some time, newer residents won't know it as the memorial.

I'm off work on the Friday, so could help ease you in with a bit of a mini meet if you like. Same goes for anyone else who is around on the Friday as well. PM me if interested.

It's not a sailboat, it's a Schooner... :D

Trumgottist 05-02-2012 01:04 PM

(Sings…)

Owner of an evil shirt (is much better than a) owner of a broken shirt!

Majsan 05-02-2012 01:15 PM

Thank you Jelena and stepurhan now I feel a lot better:D

Nah, it's not broken. It's supposed to look like that. :D

Yes?

Now, my professor would criticise this. It is obviously missing three views (top, bottom, and back). Also, you did not show the hidden lines. So make these too, or do you want to make this intentionally difficult for the engineers and workers building this Android (or rather Stepoid? :P ) for you?

Also, why did they remove that memorial?

I think you look splendid in that shirt Step.

Would an exploded view help? I have a technical drawing qualification to do one.if you need it. :P

The memorial was simply moved to a.more pleasant location in the local park.

Well that goes without saying. ;D

tsa 05-18-2012 02:44 AM

Step, do you already have a schedule or something like it for the big day?

stepurhan 05-18-2012 04:22 AM

Meeting at 10.30am. Meal booked for 5pm. While I have the walking tour planned I have no fixed timings in-between those two times to allow for the weather and how much walking people want to do in one go on the day.

There is one other thing I was considering fixing. There is a group discount for the old Smuggler's Caves. Not vital to book in advance but would probably be wise id people are up for it.

Currently posting from my DS. Will circulate my mobile number when I get home.
