DSL or dial up

Squinky 04-09-2008 06:49 PM

As nostalgic as modem noise may be for me, I'll have to go with DSL.

There can be no such choice. Many of today's GUIs come with controls that issue console-level commands. A GUI client to a middle-tier command-line driven system to a database is quite common.

But if I were to interpret your question as "GUI only" vs. "command line" only operations on everything I needed to do, I would grab my Wilson soccer ball and head for the nearest deserted island (with plenty of batteries, of course!).

Vibrato or tremolo?

Squinky 04-09-2008 09:21 PM

I meant, which do you like better? And vibrato.

Soloist or rhythm section?

Not A Speck Of Cereal 04-10-2008 07:54 PM

Okay, this thread is after all titled "choices", so I chose GUI.

And rhythm section.

Drums or bass?

tsa 04-10-2008 08:12 PM

Bass.

Drum 'n' bass or jazz?

lumi 04-11-2008 07:26 PM

The Great Usa

Contacts or eyeglasses?

Squinky 04-13-2008 09:26 PM

This is a hard one. I spent several years using both, and ultimately, I just gave up and got laser eye surgery instead.

Christianity or Islam?

MystGirl 04-13-2008 09:44 PM

neither (I'm agnostic)

Pizza or burritos? (I love food)

Merricat 04-14-2008 03:56 AM

Mmmm, chicken pesto pizza--halve a cheesy garlic round bread, slather on the pesto, add chicken pieces (cooked in butter and sherry) and top with feta. Pop in the oven (350 F) for about 20 minutes. True love. :9~

Time or Newsweek? Or some other news mag?

lumi 04-14-2008 05:28 AM

The Economist

Cell phone on or off at night?

tsa 04-15-2008 04:47 AM

On, but not in the bedroom! I'm too lazy to turn it off, but I have had a few sleepless nights because of an SMS late at night.

Cell phone on or off during parties?

Squinky 04-15-2008 09:44 AM

I keep mine on in case of emergencies, but that's because no one ever phones me unless it's practically an emergency. So I'd generally recommend off or silent mode if it's a small intimate gathering. (If it's a loud party, then no one will be able to hear anything anyway...)

One word or a lengthy paragraph?

tsa 04-15-2008 09:55 AM

That depends on the circumstances. During meetings, one word often saves a lot of time. But sometimes a lengthy paragraph is good if details are needed.

Talk about stating the obvious :)

I'll stay with the cell phones for now: SMS or short call?

lumi 04-15-2008 07:18 PM

SMS

Living not far from a sea or living in a large land-locked area?

Jelena 04-16-2008 09:01 AM

Living near the sea. Always have and always will.

Money or fame?

bulldog 04-16-2008 11:59 AM

Money...and the reason is I would want to take of my church. My church has only been around for about 70 years and some of the older members are passing away. Since they are passing their large donations are going away as well, so I would want money to take care of my church.

More or Less hours in the day

stepurhan 04-16-2008 11:29 PM

It sort of depends if the activities in the day extend proportionately (i.e. I have to spend more time at work) I'm not sure that I'd be happy with more in that case. Despite that, I still think I'd go for more overall. There never seems enough time to do everything.

Deep and thoughtful choices or random and silly choices?

lumi 04-18-2008 05:22 PM

Deep and thoughtful

Car headlights on or off during a sunny day?

Squinky 04-18-2008 07:16 PM

My, what deep and thoughtful choices! :shifty:

That said, my car, being made after 1990, has daytime running lights, so it's on no matter what.

Real numbers or imaginary numbers?

SoccerDude28 04-19-2008 09:22 PM

Real Numbers. Imaginary ones are just too complicated.

Blue or Green.

Not A Speck Of Cereal 04-20-2008 07:40 PM

Green, olive green in fact.

French or Itailian?

MikaelS 04-21-2008 03:10 AM

Summer or winter?

Jelena 04-21-2008 09:38 AM

Summer with lots of sun.

Flower garden or vegetable garden?

D.C. 04-21-2008 08:25 PM

Vegetable garden. Good for when the apocalypse strikes. ;)

Donkey Kong or King Kong?

tsa 04-21-2008 09:00 PM

Cauliflower or endive?

stepurhan 04-22-2008 09:08 AM

Detailed explanation of choice or just your selection.

Not A Speck Of Cereal 04-22-2008 08:08 PM

Explanation, unless I'm really hungery, in which case grunting and pointing is appropriate.

lumi 04-22-2008 08:10 PM

The party's up here on the north side.

Not A Speck Of Cereal 04-23-2008 08:04 PM

Waffles hold more goodness.

Commute: bike or bus?

lumi 04-23-2008 08:10 PM
