Guess the animal

1 Attachment(s)
Okey, here's the post where you post a picture of a strange/unknown animal, we have to guess what it's called (arts name). I'm not sure how many will be interested in this, but we try anyway.. (Kinda expecting it to be only me and Melanie (don't know this, I'm just guessing that melanie os interested in animals..), but it might be fun anyway..)

Here's the first animal:

Oh, and please don't post gruesome pictures? :frown:

Karmillo 03-20-2006 02:36 PM

Why would only you and Mel be interested?

my gues is the dreaded pindawonchanga!

jjacob 03-20-2006 03:08 PM

Could be fun :) Is it a.... baby kangaroo? :P

PS. We don't have to use the latin names, do we?

Melanie68 03-20-2006 03:12 PM

It looks like some sort of rodent given the paws and snout. :) I'm not sure of a specific name without searching though.

jjacob 03-20-2006 03:14 PM

Perhaps we could use a small hint :) Is it a marsupial?

saucyminx 03-20-2006 03:15 PM

It looks like it's related to mus musculus of the family Muridae... but I wouldn't know.

Panthera 03-20-2006 03:46 PM

Yes, it's a marsupial. It's indigionus and only (I think) in Australia.
oh, and I'm not looking for the latin name only what it's called in Australia..

More hints later if you don't figure it out.

Karmillo 03-20-2006 03:49 PM

Is it a Joey?

Panthera 03-20-2006 03:52 PM

As far as I can make out (it's difficult searching for Joey) Joey is a kangaroo animal? This is, as Melanie said, a rodent..

Hm, I have to revise my statement. It isn't a rodent, it's more like a small wallaby. Sorry. The site I used had apparently false information, because looking up other sites, I see that it's called a part of the wallaby and tree Kangaroo family.

SORRY :frown:

Edit (again): After researching a bit I found out that Joey is the Australian word resembeling pup. They use this word on every baby marsupial. This is, i pretty sure at least, a full grown marsupial

jjacob 03-20-2006 04:23 PM

So I won? :D ;)

Panthera 03-20-2006 04:28 PM

You have to narrow it down a bit.. :P

To suborder or familiae? :P

Anyway since this one's answered, how 'bout you give us another one :)

It's not answered. I said it was in the same family as Wallabys and Tree Kangaroos, not that it actually is a kangaroo/Wallaby. And if you're allowed to answer Marsupial as a correct answer, I don't know how many different animals I can find..

BUT, I give you a new one anyway, since I'm being nice. This time, a really easy one..

Sage 03-20-2006 04:48 PM

Is it a Lynx?

Melanie68 03-20-2006 05:02 PM

Well I looked around a little on the first animal and my guess would be a Bandicoot.

SECOND ANIMAL IS CORRECT (sorry 'bout big words guys) it is a Lynx

Would someone else like to post an animal? If the winner sha'll post, it's Thrift Store Scott's turn. If nobody posts, I'll post a new animal tomorrow..

Karmillo 03-20-2006 05:44 PM
