Tried to get close, but if flew off. Guess i'm not very sneaky.

Wow. Pretty f*cking cool.

I've seen hawks before, but that's about it.

SakSquash 01-10-2006 12:52 PM

We've got a family of them who live in the trees near my house. There are always eaglephiles staying at the motel taking pictures.

Melanie68 01-10-2006 12:53 PM

WOW!! That's gorgeous!:) :)

SamNMax 01-10-2006 02:51 PM

Never seen one before.

SakSquash 01-10-2006 03:04 PM

They're always kicking fish ass.

Dasilva 01-10-2006 03:19 PM

Nice shot! Who needs to be sneaky when you have a zoom button? :D

Tobbe 01-10-2006 04:04 PM

Really nice photo! A stunning bird that is!

simpson_yellow 01-10-2006 06:20 PM

Awesome photo, temps. Birds of prey always fill me with a sense of awe.

We have wedge-tailed eagles here.

A couple of years ago, I was driving to work and saw what I though was a small kangaroo standing on the road, eating some roadkill (which struck me as a little bizarre). As I got closer, I realised it was a wedge-tailed eagle. It also became apparent that it was not about to move out of the way for me, despite the fact that I was driving about a tonne of metal towards it at 120kmh. It played chicken with me and won, forcing me off the road to drive around it. Gotta respect that :D

SakSquash 01-10-2006 06:32 PM

Man, they get big. I would have shooed it out of the road. Might have gotten hit by someone who wasn't paying as much attention as you. I'm always shooing turtles around here.

simpson_yellow 01-10-2006 06:47 PM

I did actually think about it, but came to the conclusion that it probably wouldn't listen to me, considering it wouldn't move out of the way of a car bearing down on it. And it wasn't as if it didn't know I was there - it stared me down the whole way :D.

Besides, I was about 200kms outside of the city, and there were a couple of kilometres or straight road in front of it. I couldn't imagine a driver not seeing it.

And, truth be known, I was just a teensy bit scared of being shredded into little bloody pieces by its talons :P

SakSquash 01-10-2006 06:50 PM

Please let me come to your country and see your birds with large talons!

simpson_yellow 01-10-2006 07:08 PM

Hehe :D

You don't mind that they're wedge-tailed?

eriq 01-11-2006 01:03 AM

Wow. That is amazing. Both of these shots. Birds of prey ARE stunning. I want to be reincarnated as one. That would be nice.

SakSquash 01-11-2006 07:53 AM

The bugger was back again today. Didn't feel like stalking this time. Can you spot him!?

Karmillo 01-11-2006 07:58 AM

Wow its like a game of Wheres Wally/Waldo? :D

...well it is if he just gave up on the whole hiding thing...

SoccerDude28 01-11-2006 02:38 PM

Where's a shotgun when you need one?

SakSquash 01-11-2006 02:46 PM

SoccerDude28

At that range, you'd need a rifle.

Karmillo 01-12-2006 03:33 AM

Who needs a rifle? I could hit it with an orange from that distance

Filmman 01-13-2006 07:17 AM

I never seen one before
