We've got a family of them who live in the trees near my house. There are always eaglephiles staying at the motel taking pictures.

Nice shot! Who needs to be sneaky when you have a zoom button?

Awesome photo, temps. Birds of prey always fill me with a sense of awe.
We have wedge-tailed eagles here. A couple of years ago, I was driving to work and saw what I though was a small kangaroo standing on the road, eating some roadkill (which struck me as a little bizarre). As I got closer, I realised it was a wedge-tailed eagle. It also became apparent that it was not about to move out of the way for me, despite the fact that I was driving about a tonne of metal towards it at 120kmh. It played chicken with me and won, forcing me off the road to drive around it. Gotta respect that |

Man, they get big. I would have shooed it out of the road. Might have gotten hit by someone who wasn't paying as much attention as you. I'm always shooing turtles around here.

I did actually think about it, but came to the conclusion that it probably wouldn't listen to me, considering it wouldn't move out of the way of a car bearing down on it. And it wasn't as if it didn't know I was there - it stared me down the whole way .
Besides, I was about 200kms outside of the city, and there were a couple of kilometres or straight road in front of it. I couldn't imagine a driver not seeing it. And, truth be known, I was just a teensy bit scared of being shredded into little bloody pieces by its talons |

Wow. That is amazing. Both of these shots. Birds of prey ARE stunning. I want to be reincarnated as one. That would be nice.

At that range, you'd need a rifle. |
