Place the character

I thought of a new game, it's called "place that character", it will be easy to cheat, so only do it in emergencies. I don't know if this will work (or be any fun), but it's worth a shot and should the thread die, it dies.

I figured I should start so here goes nothing.

What game is "Fat Bloke" from?

Shany 02-25-2011 07:49 AM

Are you talking about character names or descriptions? I have no idea where the guy is from...

Jon_wachter 02-25-2011 08:08 AM

Well character names would be too complicated so character names only. It's from a humorous English game, that should limit the options for you to as far as I know 3 games and it's not Feeble Files urgh!

kate me 02-25-2011 09:37 AM

Hmm... sounds like one of my favorite games...
I remember a comment by Simon in Simon 2 about a guy who's selling something to the right of the guy who works with iron (I remember giving him some material for the Mc'swampy costume)

So, that seller is the FAT BLOKE , right ?! ;)

Jon_wachter 02-25-2011 09:45 AM

Yes, it's the guy selling fabric who wants Simon to find a magic lamp for him.
Very good Kate Me.

kate me 02-25-2011 10:47 AM

I dunno if this is ok, but lets see...

A little warm up (easy for all AG's) :

_Men of low moral fiber _

....and another one a bit more tricky

_White fur_

Jon_wachter 02-25-2011 05:41 PM

Men of low moral fiber is from the Scum bar in Monkey Island 1 but the second one is tricky, don't know that one. Will have to think about it, possible I haven't even played the game if it's from the last 10 years.

harald 02-26-2011 09:31 AM

If you wanted to nitpick, you could point out that the "Men of low moral fiber" are actually in the streets of Mêlée and not in the Scumm Bar. I have no idea about the white fur though. These are supposed to be "hot spot descriptions" of characters, I take it?

-Actually IT IS from the last 10 years! In fact is from a very recent game!;)
A scared "white fur" creature!

-They are! They're from MI 1 , those three guys from the streets of Mêlée.:)
And I think they also appear in MI2 sleepy and drunk!

-These ones: YES!

jhetfield21 02-27-2011 12:23 AM

is the white fur referring to the weird bear/dog creature from Syberia 2?

Panthera 02-27-2011 04:30 AM

The lamb in Lost Horizon!

zobraks 02-27-2011 05:29 AM

"One man's lamb is another man's goat."
(Ezekiel 38,22)

kate me 02-27-2011 07:29 AM

Even if he is scared like a little lamb, it's a goat! and IT IS from Lost Horizon!

When Fenthon tries to speak BAA BAAH! the goat is even more scared of him!
That whole village remind me a little of BS2 and I think that's why I like that goat!:D

Anyway, nice job guys! ;)

jhetfield21 02-27-2011 07:53 AM

Yeah, sorry, that should have been the *kid from Lost Horizon
I also thought it was the dog/seal from Syberia 2 until it hit me today.

So, Jon posts the next one? He guessed the first one, either that or we can post each ours I guess..

kate me 02-27-2011 08:29 AM

Well, the second one was a little tricky , and the first was just for warm up so, go ahead! :)

Panthera 02-27-2011 01:49 PM

Well then:

Bando

diego 02-27-2011 03:33 PM

The Whispered World

Panthera 02-27-2011 06:30 PM

Yup, so it is. Your turn.

diego 02-28-2011 06:59 AM

I'm not sure i catched the rules here, are we only allowed to say "hot-spot names" or can we describe the character?

Anyway, since telling the name of next character would be too easy, i'll try to describe him:

Flying sidekick!

jhetfield21 02-28-2011 07:27 AM

Chuck Norris??:P
even though his is a powerhouse kick.

Who is "ageless, faceless, gender-neutral, culturally-ambiguous adventure-person" and what game is (s)he related to?

It's Grand Inquisitor actually, but you win nevertheless ;).

Spit a (new) character! :D

gray pierce 03-01-2011 05:14 AM

All right
Lap dog

SweetDalilah 03-01-2011 09:23 AM

I have some questions.
a) is it really a dog?
b) is it a lap dog in a sense it's small or it just likes to sit in people's laps?
Very stupid questions, one might say, but sence I have no idea what it is I had to ask.

jhetfield21 03-01-2011 09:52 AM

or is it a lackey?

gray pierce 03-01-2011 03:53 PM

Ah very clever questions, you have seen through my cunning plan
No it is not a dog
Nor does it like to sit on laps(although it might like someone siting on his/her lap)
And it is certainly not a lackey, I think it would be insulted if you called it that

SweetDalilah 03-01-2011 04:10 PM

It somehow remainds me of Larry Laffer from LSL. (after I searched what a lap dog is and based on your response).

gray pierce 03-02-2011 02:10 AM

Nope, this game is much more recent(think last 10 years)

rayvio 03-02-2011 02:30 AM

Commander Samuel Vimes? can't remember if it was mentioned in the game(s) but in the books he's nicknamed Vetinari's Terrier and would definitely be insulted to be called a lackey

No but thanks for throwing me back unto Discworld, been too long. Btw: he is a character in Discworld Noir

rayvio 03-02-2011 12:18 PM

yep, what I meant was I can't remember if the nickname of "Vetinari's Terrier" was mentioned in the games. he also appears, rather drunk if I recall (much like in the earlier books) in the first Discworld game

Manuel Calavera 03-02-2011 12:21 PM

Gaspode the Wonder Dog?

Although i'd just read it's not a dog lol so think that rules it out being right :)

gray pierce 03-02-2011 05:06 PM

Keep the Discworld characters coming guys, much appreciated. Though it's not a character from a Discworld game
