Anyone know where I can get the book in English? Either a physical or a digital copy for my Kindle. Couldn't find it on Amazon... I guess it's not a very mainstream book but I like the general concept of the story and would be interested in reading it.

From the games web page it states that the game is "Based on a story by the famous Russian authors, the Strugatsky Brothers" but maybe the name of the book is different. You can download English versions of at least some of their books from the brothers web page here http://rusf.ru/abs/english/ Maybe if you contacted them or Akella they could tell you the name of the book the game is based on? Let us know if you find anything out.

The name of the book is the same: Dead Mountaineer's Hotel, by Strugatsky Brothers. Although Wikipedia states that It is known as Inspector Glebsky's Puzzle in the English translation, published in 1988 by Richardson, Steirman & Black. I only read the original Russian text. It is a really interesting and original blend of detective, comedy and sci-fi, and one of the finest Strugatsky novels. The game is nothing compared to it.

Thanks Arial Type that is good to know. I am searching to see if there is anywhere selling the English release.
