The Longest Journey

I absolutely loved the story and the characters. The puzzles were perfectly balanced (for me). Hopefully Dreamfall will be even better

It's hard for me to seperate these 3... they're all great.

1. Monkey Island 2 - Has it all.. story, hilarious jokes, atmosphere, great puzzles.

2. Broken Sword - Great story, characters which you care about, funny moments, fun puzzles.

3. Indy FOA - Excellent story, characters, puzzles...

Im not a big fan of GF and i dont really know what all the fuss is about. However I did like year 2 in rubacava ... but the rest didnt really grip me.

Naveed 01-05-2005 08:02 AM

SamNMax 01-05-2005 10:37 AM

OMG....

Ow Em Gee...

Why haven't more people said The Secret of Monkey Island?!

Kolzig 01-05-2005 10:55 AM

Ok, I'll say it again, Secret of Monkey Island.

Ninth 01-05-2005 12:17 PM

The Secret of Monkey Island. :)

Even though Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis and Death Gate are close behind.

Zanthia 01-05-2005 01:37 PM

DOTT is the best game of all time!

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis comes in at a close second.

LeisureSuitedLooney 01-05-2005 07:19 PM

Harvester!!!!!

(just kidding)

My personal faves are Zork:Nemesis, Shivers, and others too numerous to mention...yeah, I gravitate toward the dark, morbid stuff. Whee!

I liked that game but one of the best for me was Full Throttle. Too bad there was no sequel.

I also think Monkey Island Curse and Indiana Jones Atlantis were excellent.

They dont make them like they used to.

Burge 01-05-2005 09:48 PM

DOTT. Nothing will ever surpass it caoz you can't bring back that feeling of playing great games when you were like 10 years old.

Leonard Shelby 01-05-2005 10:54 PM

I m giving two winners :

Maupiti Island and Blade Runner

The most immersive experiences of my adventure playing life and what a lot of fun

That's exactly why my vote goes to MI.

Zork: Nemesis is awesome. :D Now you've made me curious about Shivers. *walks off to research and google*

Jazhara7 01-07-2005 09:28 AM

The greatest adventure of all times has yet to be made.

lexxy2u 01-07-2005 03:57 PM

Tex Murphy's Under A Killing Moon is with out doubt the best all around adventure game ever. It is the kind of game that can stand the test of time, graphics aside, and still be enjoyed each and every time you play it. I have played it seven times myself.

Zanthia 01-09-2005 07:03 AM

And the first Simon the Sorcerer is pretty good

5.full throttle - it is too short but i just love it *D

4.the curse of monkey island- my 1st adv. game if you dont count pq1 but i was 5 years old then and i didnt really know what i was doing :) 8-)

3.gabriel knight 3 - i didnt play first 2 :9

2.grim fandango - controls were messed up..... :frusty:

1.the longest journey - simply the best

Terabin 01-09-2005 01:08 PM

I think my favorite is Sanitarium. It drew me into the game for the entire experience, mostly because I loved the story so much. The artwork was incredible too. But I suppose a favorite is different from the best. I acknowledge that there are probably better games out there technically!

Max is an awesome name by the way. Random thought.

demented_yam 01-09-2005 06:14 PM

<<<<<<<<

you can tell from here

DOTT all the way

and in second place:

the neverhood

:)

Crypto 01-16-2005 05:14 AM

I decided to limit my list to 5 ;)

Without a doubt

1) Monkey Island 1,2 (AMIGA) & 3
2) Grim Fandango
3) Day of The Tentacle
4) Gabriel Knight series (1,2,3)
5) Zork Nemesis

If I had to put in a 6th, it would definitely have been: Riven

The 7th would be: Discworld II-Missing Presumed?!

8) Under A killing Moon

9) Zack Mc Kracken and the Alien Mindbender

10) Sam&Max hit the road

Sorry, just couldn't help it... :shifty:

As for number 11...

Zanthia 01-16-2005 09:14 AM

111! give us 111!:)

Crypto 01-16-2005 01:50 PM

Definitely the worst I've ever installed. (not played for more than 5 minutes) :P

Never heard of it.

But it would make a good name for a Dragon in Anne McCaffrey's "Dragonriders of Pern". A blue one, maybe.

bLindslded 01-17-2005 06:51 AM

1. Grim Fandango :)

2. Monkey Island series

Hammerite 01-29-2005 06:52 AM

Mr Goodsoup 01-29-2005 10:39 AM

No, Simon1 is an idiotic game. Worst puzzles in an AG ever.

?! How many have you played? Two? ;)

Just kidding but I really think there are lots of titles with far worse puzzles out there. I remember Tony Tough which "featured" the most absurd and unlogical puzzles I've encountered lately.

Risingson 01-30-2005 06:39 AM

Well, yes, but in Tony Tough you didn't have to walk that much at least.

There's something about AdventureSoft games that I really don't like. Maybe the excessive distance between open scenaries, maybe the excessive length of dialogues which don't add information or fun factor, maybe that the main character is someone you can't like.

ragnar 01-30-2005 06:42 AM

The problem with the puzzles in Simon1 is that there seems to be no connection at all between the objects you need to combine and what you need to accomplish. Plus that what you need to accomplish is also most of the time rather dim. That the game tries too hard to be funny and doesn't add to the quality of the game.

There no arguing with such insighful assessments, I guess.

dazsin 02-19-2005 01:54 AM

1. Broken Sword
2. The Curse of Monkey Island
3. Monkey Island 2
4. Beneath a Steel Sky
5. Simon the Sorcerer

Doing that list makes me nostalgic for the days of 2D point and clicks. If i win tonights lottery i'm gonna pay Lucasarts/Sierra etc to get some in development...! :)

Captain Blondebeard 02-19-2005 03:01 AM

I have a hard time chosing between BS1: Circle of Blood and MI 1,2, 3

Fairygdmther 02-19-2005 05:40 AM

I don't think I play the same genre of adv games as you guys. My favs are:

1. Obsidian - totally original, freaky, fun, tough
2. Faust - 7 Games of the Soul
3. Timelapse
4. Sanitarium
5. TLJ
