The Longest Journey
I absolutely loved the story and the characters. The puzzles were perfectly balanced (for me). Hopefully Dreamfall will be even better --LlamaFarmer |
It's hard for me to seperate these 3... they're all great.
1. Monkey Island 2 - Has it all.. story, hilarious jokes, atmosphere, great puzzles. 2. Broken Sword - Great story, characters which you care about, funny moments, fun puzzles. 3. Indy FOA - Excellent story, characters, puzzles... Im not a big fan of GF and i dont really know what all the fuss is about. However I did like year 2 in rubacava ... but the rest didnt really grip me. |
hmmm...

OMG....
Ow Em Gee... Why haven't more people said The Secret of Monkey Island?! |
Ok, I'll say it again, Secret of Monkey Island.

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis comes in at a close second. |
Harvester!!!!!
(just kidding) My personal faves are Zork:Nemesis, Shivers, and others too numerous to mention...yeah, I gravitate toward the dark, morbid stuff. Whee! |

I also think Monkey Island Curse and Indiana Jones Atlantis were excellent. They dont make them like they used to. |
DOTT. Nothing will ever surpass it caoz you can't bring back that feeling of playing great games when you were like 10 years old.
|
I m giving two winners :
Maupiti Island and Blade Runner The most immersive experiences of my adventure playing life and what a lot of fun |

And "The Legen of Kyrandia" series is a close runner up. - :) :) :) :) :) :) :) |
The greatest adventure of all times has yet to be made.

Tex Murphy's Under A Killing Moon is with out doubt the best all around adventure game ever. It is the kind of game that can stand the test of time, graphics aside, and still be enjoyed each and every time you play it. I have played it seven times myself.
|
And the first Simon the Sorcerer is pretty good

I think my favorite is Sanitarium. It drew me into the game for the entire experience, mostly because I loved the story so much. The artwork was incredible too. But I suppose a favorite is different from the best. I acknowledge that there are probably better games out there technically!
Max is an awesome name by the way. Random thought. |
<<<<<<<<
you can tell from here DOTT all the way and in second place: the neverhood :) |
I decided to limit my list to 5 ;)
Without a doubt
1) Monkey Island 1,2 (AMIGA) & 3 2) Grim Fandango 3) Day of The Tentacle 4) Gabriel Knight series (1,2,3) 5) Zork Nemesis If I had to put in a 6th, it would definitely have been: Riven The 7th would be: Discworld II-Missing Presumed?! 8) Under A killing Moon 9) Zack Mc Kracken and the Alien Mindbender 10) Sam&Max hit the road Sorry, just couldn't help it... :shifty: As for number 11... |

Just kidding but I really think there are lots of titles with far worse puzzles out there. I remember Tony Tough which "featured" the most absurd and unlogical puzzles I've encountered lately. |
Well, yes, but in Tony Tough you didn't have to walk that much at least.
There's something about AdventureSoft games that I really don't like. Maybe the excessive distance between open scenaries, maybe the excessive length of dialogues which don't add information or fun factor, maybe that the main character is someone you can't like. |
The problem with the puzzles in Simon1 is that there seems to be no connection at all between the objects you need to combine and what you need to accomplish. Plus that what you need to accomplish is also most of the time rather dim. That the game tries too hard to be funny and doesn't add to the quality of the game.

1. Broken Sword
2. The Curse of Monkey Island 3. Monkey Island 2 4. Beneath a Steel Sky 5. Simon the Sorcerer Doing that list makes me nostalgic for the days of 2D point and clicks. If i win tonights lottery i'm gonna pay Lucasarts/Sierra etc to get some in development...! :) |
I have a hard time chosing between BS1: Circle of Blood and MI 1,2, 3
|
I don't think I play the same genre of adv games as you guys. My favs are:
1. Obsidian - totally original, freaky, fun, tough 2. Faust - 7 Games of the Soul 3. Timelapse 4. Sanitarium 5. TLJ FGM |
