Generally, most would think of strategy games as things like the old city builder games (Caesar or Civilization), the war sim games (i.e. The Blue and the Gray) or business sim games, etc. Strategy games are what
Impressions Games was best known for.
This does not mean that other genres can't have strategy elements to the game play, though. Even some puzzle games can involve strategy.
