You could try changing the sound settings in the game's setup. I believe that got me out of a speed-bug years ago in QFG4, though I'm not sure it was with the wraiths.

If that doesn't work, feel free (either of you) to send me a saved game prior to going into the wraith battle. Sometimes these bugs won't occur on other computers. (Though this will only work if your version of the game is the same as mine, which is from the QFG Anthology.)
