1. I'd discuss the idea with said partner first, especially if the tight budget affects hir as well as you. Also, depending on the gift in question, I'd scour Craigslist or eBay for a good deal.
2. Probably the latter, or cook one of my own invented recipes.
3. If we're talking performers rather than composers, then probably Frank Sinatra.
