ps: I first tried to use the cane on Antoinette (burn those ropes), but no good there either.

Spoiler:I tired that level again and the only way I wasnt able to burn the anchor is because I had'nt selected the burning torch. I had it in my hand but it never worked till I selected it from my inventory. Hope that helps.
