Excellent gameplay really goes a long way. But also great character/creature design and a cinematic epicness; graphics were top-notch for it's time (and do a good job holding up) but more importantly the settings and the las plagas creatures looked amazing and really gave a sense of awesomeness. To m, it really is (one of) the best game(s) ever.
