Actually, if we're lisiting not-really-settled inhabitants of areas, the Neandertals in Germany existed as far back as 350,000 years ago.
Sure, the Neandertal is one state over from where I live, but like I said, they were not entirely settlements, and just because they found them there, doesn't mean they might not have travelled here. It's just a question about whether or not things have been preserved.
