Difficult choice. Babies are (mostly) sweet, and less trouble; their needs are simple. Old folks, on the other hand, have the capacity for telling fascinating stories about a time that is not your own--if they remain sharp, and are not too cranky. Innocence versus wisdom; potential versus experience.
I have to choose old people. Both can be tyrannical, but you can't put a baby in a rocking chair, give her a cup of tea, turn on some Lithuanian folk music, and leave the room.
Single level dwelling, or multiple floors?
