Just saw Persepolis yesterday. I read the graphic novels over a year ago and enjoyed them; it's a fascinating, heartbreaking look at Iran during and immediately after the Revolution, told from the perspective of a Persian woman who lived her childhood and adolescence at that time. Particularly significant for me was that although I was born and raised in Canada, far away from what was going on over there, my own family had been persecuted for their religious beliefs, just as members of Marjane's family were persecuted for being communists.

The film follows pretty much the same plot as the graphic novels, as far as I can remember, and contains some spiffy animation, to boot.
