Demons are notoriously camera-shy. I'm guessing whoever suggested it might have been a demon passing through is someone who likes everything in their world to be neatly ordered into "Good" and "Bad", with no grey area in between.
The simple fact is that there are all sorts of spirits all over the world; some benevolent, some malevolent, but most simply following their own spectral agendas that may or may not intersect with the agendas of the living. In other words, if that particular entity isn't hassling you or causing you problems, then don't worry about it.
