Ah, good old Beardism at work.
Apparently the son of one of the people I regularly travel with now refers to me as "the hobo in a suit" (because of the beard and my hair which tends to wander if I don't comb it back into place regularly. I don't like gel)
Mind you it's probably a fair revenge. He has the full moody goth look. Long hair. Black clothes. Heavy metal T-shirts. Wrist-band with little spikes on it. Politest 16 year old I've met in ages. Shook hands when introduced. Gave his seat up to a lady on the train. All that sort of thing.
I told his mother (my regular commuter friend) how pleasantly surprised I was and how he was proof you can't judge people by appearances. Apparently when she passed this on he asked "What did he expect? That I'd grunt and spit?"
