Silent Hill 3 is more action oriented but the puzzles are as wicked as the first 2 games in the series, and the heroine is this wigged out, irascible, vengeful, yet likeable girl. The graphics and art direction of all 3 games are incredible.
I haven't played SH4, though, so don't know how that is. Someone else who has played it may tell you.

so the silent hill games are only on the playstation? is it worth buying one to play the games?
EDIT: OH just realised its only the first game which is only on PS
