The reason he was so amazingly great as Gilderoy Lockhart is that he appears to be like that in real life. Most people would be content to act and possibly direct a film, but he goes and acts, directs, produces, employs his wife and just about everything imaginable short of Best Boy and Visual Effects Supervisor.

And the sad thing is that he's actually pretty good at it .
