Spoiler:As Dale noted above, the croc didn't eat the statue's missing arm - that's the one you pick up.
My line of thinking was the same as Fov's. I really liked the way this puzzle was set - if a game has more of this type along the way (though preferrably more difficult ones) I think I'll like it.
