Spoiler:It was very obvious to me, because everything he looks at (all the skeletons, as well as the statue) are missing arms. Which led me to believe that the croc goes after arms. Which meant I needed to find an arm (other than my own) to tempt him with.
I actually thought it was almost too obvious.
