I have a weird love/hate fascination with horror movies. I get a thrill out of the frisson of terror I get just reading about the movies, but can rarely buck up the courage to see them. Having said that, I've only seen Dawn of the Dead and 28 Days Later.
I saw Dawn of the Dead at my Dad's friend's house. His friend was a horror freak and had a whole shelf full of horror VHS tapes. I was probably too young to have seen that movie, and I don't remember liking it at the time.
I saw 28 Days Later with my hubby and thought it was a good scare. It was cool to see a different take on zombies -- fast-moving frenetic ones that are much harder to evade. And I loved the opening scenes of emptiness -- so creepy. But, there were some cringe-inducing scenes that left me feeling sick to my stomach.
