There are more Japanese RPG's than FF in the market you know. Have you ever heard of:
Shadow Hearts: Covenant ? An excellent RPG that not many people have heard of.
And ICO and Shadow of the Colossus are both published by Sony. At least they support some original content in conjuction with the block busters.
