Style over substance

The visuals in this game are nothing short of phenomenal. The love, dedication and passion that went into every model, the animation and even the lighting, is beyond anything I’ve seen in an adventure game and most animated movies.

The music and voice acting is on point too, creating an immersive atmosphere and a living community.

It could have been a classic, if it wasn’t for the writing and gameplay. Unfortunately, when the novelty of the visuals begins to fade, the game suddenly feels very boring. The gameplay involves fetch quests, talking to one character on behalf of another and going through lists of chores, making the game itself feel like a chore.

It’s a shame the developers didn’t spend more time creating logical puzzles, object combinations and the gameplay elements that make point and click adventures so satisfying and fun to play.

As for the story, it’s overwhelmingly bland and also quite cliched, drawing on many other dystopian works of fiction before it.

Better to watch a playthrough on Youtube where you can appreciate the visuals without having to trudge through it all yourself.
