1.                                Introduction

===============================================================================


Curse of Enchantia was Core Design's first attempt at an adventure game. Made
in 1992, this is a below standard adventure game from the company that would
go on to create the successful Tomb Raider series. The story tells of a boy
named Brad that is summoned from Earth to the land of Enchantia by a witch, as
she needs him for a spell that will make her eternally youthful. What follows
is Brad's journey through various strange locations in Enchantia in order to
find items that will give him enough power to defeat the witch and return home.

Though there are some well designed locations and characters in the game, many
players may find themselves put off by an almost complete lack of text. When
you try to talk to one of the characters, you will either get an image telling
you where to go next, or in most cases there will be no response at all. There
is also no text when Brad interacts with any object in the game. It's a shame,
as Curse of Enchantia had lots of potential with some great locations, but the
lack of text really creates a feeling of isolation in the game and it can be
annoying when what seems to be an interesting character ends up doing nothing
more than standing there. Though Curse of Enchantia is quite a lengthy game and
is well worth playing, it's not as good as it could have been with text.

2.                                  Controls

Curse of Enchantia's interface is initially confusing as there are many icons
to choose from, and selecting 'use' brings up a menu of even more icons. To
display the menu, move the hand cursor to either the top or bottom section of
the screen and then right click. All of the icons are shown below:

3.                                Walkthrough

===============================================================================


DUNGEON
-------

Talk and say "Help!" to make the guard enter the room. He tells Brad to shutup
and then leaves the room, dropping a key behind him. Get the key and use it to
unlock the shackles. Get the coin behind the pillar at the bottom-right corner
of the dungeon. Walk to the left side of the pillar near the skeleton and move
the wall to find a hole. Get the paperclip in the hole. Use the paperclip to
unlock the door and then exit the cell. Get the fish bowl on the table to take
along a fish as well. Walk west to see a statue holding a hammer. To avoid
being hit by the statues in this section, stand just at the right side of the
statue and wait for it to swing its hammer before walking past. You don't die
or lose any points from getting hit by the statues in this section. Get the
gem on the floor after the first statue. The only purpose for treasures in the
game are for extra points and they are not added to the inventory.

Continue west past the second statue and get the gem in front of the third
statue. The guard will appear at this time and will slowly start walking toward
Brad from the right. Although the guard also won't kill Brad if he gets close,
he will push him to the left and this can make him miss Brad miss out on some
of the treasures in the hall. Get the bag of coins on the table. Continue west
past the fourth statue and then get the gem at the very bottom of the area in
front of the fifth statue. Get the red gem in the alcove at the right side of
the sixth statue. Check behind the block near the door at the left side of the
hall for a hidden gem. Open the door to fall into the ocean.


OCEAN
-----

Wear the goldfish bowl to allow Brad to move around in the ocean. Get the coin
behind the rock at the bottom-right corner of the screen. Move the fish behind
the fence and it will swim away. Walk west to the dirt patch on the floor just
left of the skull and look at it to reveal a worm. Get the worm. Wait for a few
seconds and the fish that Brad released will drop a shell. Get the shell and
then continue west to see Mr. Fish's shop. Give the worm to Mr. Fish. He swims
away and a turtle appears on the left. Walk west to the electric eels and give
the shell to the turtle to pass the eels. Get the cattle prod in the seaweed at
the left side of the eels. Walk west to see a shark. Wait until the shark gets
near and then attack the shark with the cattle prod. Walk west to the clam and
jump over the top of it when it is closed. Continue west to see a plug near a
group of electric eels. Insert the cattle prod into the plug to exit the ocean.


CAVES
-----

Walk to the left side of the boulder and get the seaweed. Walk to the wall at
the right side of the doorway and push the button to open a door. Walk through
the doorway to enter the caves. The aim in this section is to collect rocks to
give to the rock meditator. Get the four rocks in the area and then walk south
to the next area. Get the four rocks on the left. The inventory should be full
at this point and no more rocks can be picked up. Walk east to see a mud
creature float to the left before it disappears back into the mud. The creature
can't harm Brad, so just walk straight through it and go through the exit to
enter Rock Basher Meditator's Inc. Give the eight rocks to the rock meditator.

Walk south to return to the caves. Walk over to the left side of the cave and
get the remaining rock in this area. Go through the top-left exit. Get the five
rocks in this area and then go through the bottom-right exit near the falling
rocks. Get one of the rocks in this area. Get the coin near the left side of
the top-left exit. Walk through the top-left, bottom-left and top-right exits
to return to the rock meditator. Give him the seven new rocks. After he has
been given the number of rocks that is shown on the picture in the room, he
will give a piece of string to Adam. Walk south to return to the cave.

Take the top-left and bottom-right exits. Get the final three rocks here that
Brad couldn't pick up the last time. Go through the bottom-left exit to arrive
in a small cave. Get the monitor and exit the cave. Go through the top-right
exit to arrive in another small cave. Look in the middle hole and a small
creature will appear. Look in the hole that the creature left and it will leave
leave by another hole. Look in the triangular hole and then finally look in the
right hole to see a branch. Get the branch and exit the cave. Go through the
top-left exit twice to enter a small cave with a plank and a magnet on a ledge.

Get the plank and then combine it with the rock. Throw the monitor and it will
land on the other end of the plank, launching Brad up to the ledge. Get the
magnet and then jump down. Exit the cave. Go through the bottom-right exit and
then the bottom-left exit. Combine the magnet with the string to make the
magnet on string. Insert the magnet on string into the hole to get the thread.
Exit the cave. Go through the top-left exit, bottom-left exit and top-right
exits to return to the rock meditator's area. Give him the final three rocks.
Exit the room to see the mud creature. Combine the thread with the rings to see
the creature leave some mud on the string. Get the mud from the string.

Go through the top-middle exit and then the top exit to enter the wishing well
room. Throw the coin into the well and select the hard hat. Get the hard hat
and exit the room. Go through the bottom exit and then the top-left exit. Walk
east to see the the falling rocks. Wear the hard hat to walk under the rocks.
Go through the exit and jump into the bucket. Combine the mud with the seaweed.
Combine the branch with the muddy seaweed to put leaves in it. Wear the muddy
seaweed with the leaves in it to be raised in the bucket to the next area.


TOWN
----

Walk north to the next area and a thief will attempt to attack Brad. Instead,
he falls flat on his face and drops his sword on the ground. Get the sword and
then attack the thief with it. Get the bag of money. Continue north into the
city. There are a few shops you you can enter around the town, although apart
from the Mage's Shop of Wonders none have any important items and no extra
points can be found in them. Walk north to the next area and continue north at
the fountain. Enter the Mage's Shop of Wonders and give him money.


CLIFF PATH
----------

Walk east along the path and push the boulder. Jump over the boulder to cross
the gap. Walk slowly to the right and stop before the rock falls down. After it
has fallen, get the red gloves on the right and continue east to see buttons on
the wall. Push the first button, second button and then fourth button to make a
bridge appear. Cross the bridge and get the rope on the other side. Walk behind
the blue creature and wear the gloves to push him off the edge of the path.
Move back to the left a few steps to avoid being knocked off the path by the
next rock fall. Wait for the rocks to fall and then into the first alcove on
the right to avoid the rocks. Get the small stone in the alcove. Wait for the
rocks to stop falling and then walk to the next alcove on the right. When the
rocks stop falling again, move right to see a chasm with a boulder above it.

The main rocks will fall on the left, but if you move away to the left from the
chasm you should see a small stone keeps falling on Brad's head. Wear the tiny
stone from the alcove and Brad will get a bigger stone. Throw the stone and it
will hit the boulder, making it fall down to block the chasm. Cross the boulder
and continue right to the end of the path. Throw the rope and then jump onto
the rope to climb across to the next section of the path. Continue east until
you can see the bottom of a boulder above. Walk slowly east until the boulder
falls and then quickly click back to the west to avoid the boulder. Continue
walking east to the end of the ledge. Look at the writing on the wall to read
the words "Open Sesame". Walk into the alcove on the left and say the words
"Open Sesame" to enter a cave. Say "Hi" to the bird to return to the town.


TOWN
----

Exit the joke shop and walk east to the fountain. Walk north to the next area
and enter the mage's shop. Give the money to the mage to be given a disguise.
Exit the mage's shop and walk south to the fountain. Walk west to the next
area. The guard at the left side of Sally's shop will let Brad pass now that he
is wearing the disguise so continue west to enter the mysterious land.


MYSTERIOUS LAND
---------------

Get the hair on top of the pile. Continue west and get the tray in front of the
volcano. Walk back to the band and go through the south exit. Walk east and
insert the hair into the big nose. Continue east and get the pen and the stamp
from the pile. Walk behind the pile of socks and get a sock. Go down the steps
and get a remote control from the pile. Walk north to the shipwreck and get a
cassette tape from the pile on the left. Walk to the right side of the area and
combine the sock with the coins. Walk to the robot in front of the shipwreck
and attack it with the sock full of coins. Enter the shipwreck. Walk to the
bottom-left corner of the room and get one of the planks. Walk to the small
cross in the sand and throw the plank. Get the other plank and throw this from
the middle of the first plank. Get the gold rag and then exit the shipwreck.

Exit south-east to return to the area with the band. Walk to the pile of
envelopes near the red postbox and get the letter. Combine the stamp with the
letter and then insert the stamped envelope into the postbox. Walk back to the
band and insert the cassette into the console. Use the remote control to record
the band. Exit south. Give the cassette to the man outside the cave to get a
keycard. Enter the cave and say "Help!" to make the rocks fall. Get the
canister and exit the cave. Walk south to the band area and insert the keycard
into the door at the right side of the band to arrive on a cloud.

Walk right toward the bag of marbles and Brad will start sliding left. Select
the left side of the cloud and Brad will start sliding right. He will be able
to go further to the right this time so get the bag when he is near. Walk off
the edge of the cloud to land back near the band. Walk south to the next area
to see a door appear. Go through the doorway to enter a cave with a blue panel
on the floor and a fan. Throw the canister at the wall and then use the rag on
the wall to reveal a button. Push the button to raise the gate. Throw the bag
of marbles onto the panel and then throw the tray to slide across to the other
side of the panel. Get the fan. Unlock the door using the paperclip.


TOWN
----

Walk north twice and go east at the fountain. Enter Benn's costume shop and
give him money. Get the dress that appears and enter the dressing room on the
left. Wear the dress and the door will open. Walk west to the wasteland.


WASTELAND
---------

Get the small snowball on the left and throw it at the ice creature. North.
Get the deodorant can. North. North. Get the frozen board. South. Throw the
board at the hole that the fish keeps jumping out of to make the fish land on
the board. Get the fish. Wear the deodorant. Walk east and give the fish to the
eskimo. Get the fishing rod. South. Say "Hi!" to the walrus. Walk to the ice
block on the left and attack it with the fishing rod to release the creature
from the ice. Get the ashes. Walk west to the edge and then walk north twice to
arrive at a chasm. The walrus will be visible in the chasm if you talked to him
earlier on. Walk across the walrus and then say "Help!". The creature that was
released from the ice block makes a hole in the ice for Brad to climb through.
At the lake, throw the ashes into the water. A big sea monster appears to take
Brad over to the ice castle entrance at the other side of the lake.


ICE CASTLE
----------

There are four icicles here that must be pushed in the correct order to open
the castle doors. The correct order is the biggest icicle to the smallest:
Fourth, first, third and second. Enter the castle. Get the broom leaning on the
wall and then get the dice on the table. Throw the dice to open one or more
doorways in the hall to the north. The aim of this section is to collect six
items from the rooms in the hall. After collecting each item, return to the
room at the bottom of the hall and throw the dice again to open a different
door. If no door is open or a door is open to a room that you have already been
in, return to the room at the bottom of the hall and throw the dice until a new
room opens. To get the gun in the middle-left room, attack the shelf with the
broom. To get the icicle in the top-right room, attack it with the broom.

After collecting the six items (gun, jack, ice cube, icicle, magnifying glass,
megaphone), return to the device at the bottom of the hall. Insert the gun into
the holster at the left side of the device to lower the bowl. Walk to the bowl
at the right side of the device and get the piece of glass and the sun tan
lotion. Walk north twice and get the whistle at the bottom-right corner of the
room. Combine the megaphone with the whistle. Attack the window at the north
end of the hall with the megaphone whistle to shatter the window. Jump through
the window to enter a room with a laser beam. Combine the magnifying glass
with the top-right hole. Combine the ice cube with the top-left hole. Combine
the icicle with the bottom-left hole. Combine the glass with the bottom-right
hole. Insert the jack into the door to exit the room.

After arriving in the throne room, walk toward the witch and jump as soon as
she raises her hands to throw a bolt. Brad lands near the witch and walks up
the steps to sit on the throne, which launches him up to an empty room. Try to
exit the room and a big hand will grab Brad. Wear the sun tan lotion to escape
the hand. Walk north to exit the room. Keep walking north and get the matches
at the left side of the room. Continue north through the doorways to arrive in
a troll room. Walk to the left side of the pillar and the troll will start to
sleep. Walk to the troll and insert a match on his foot while he is sleeping.
This can be difficult to do as the troll may keep waking up, but just keep on
walking toward him until he continues sleeping. Walk back to the left side of
the pillar and wait for the troll to sleep again. Walk to the troll and attack
the match with the matchbox. Get the fire extinguisher to return to the town.


TOWN
----

Exit the shop and walk west to the fountain. Walk north and enter the mage's
shop. Give the money to the mage to be sent to the graveyard.


GRAVEYARD
---------

Get the bone and attack with it to escape the grave. Walk behind the pile of
dirt at the left side of the grave to avoid Dracula. Get the plate, shovel and
cymbals. Walk east until Dracula appears and then attack him with the shovel.
Get the food and then walk up the steps to get the cross. Walk toward Dracula
and push the gravestone to make him run away. Walk east to the next area, where
Dracula is waiting. Eat the food and he will pass out from the smell of the
garlic. Get the vacuum cleaner. Attack Dracula with the cross. Walk east until
Dracula appears behind Brad. Walk up to Dracula and attack with the cymbals.
Walk to the right side of the area and Dracula will open the gate. Go through
the gates and take either north path. Open the gate and enter the castle.


CASTLE
------

Enter the left room and get the ring in front of the fireplace. Walk east twice
to enter the library. Push the book in the first alcove and then go through the
doorway to see the witch. Attack the ghost with the vacuum cleaner. Use the
fire extinguisher as the witch starts to cast a fire spell. Attack with the fan
to avoid the final spell. Combine the ring with the witch to complete the game.

ASHES
  Found in the wasteland after attacking the ice block with the fishing rod.
  They are thrown into the water at the lake in the wasteland.


BAG OF MARBLES
  Found at the right side of the cloud in the mysterious land. They are thrown
  on the blue panel in the cave in the mysterious land.


BONE
  Found in the grave at the graveyard. It is used to exit the grave.


BRANCH
  Found in the caves by walking south from the falling rocks and then going
  through the top-right exit. Keep looking in the holes to find the branch. It
  is combined with the muddy seaweed to make the muddy seaweed with leaves.


BROOM
  Found in the entrance room of the ice castle. It is used to attack the shelf
  with the gun on it in the middle-left room of the ice castle. It is used to
  attack the icicle in the top-right room of the ice castle.


CANISTER
  Found by saying "Help!" in the cave in the mysterious land. It is thrown at
  the wall in the blue panel cave in the mysterious land.


CASSETTE TAPE
  Found in the pile of cassette tapes at the left side of the shipwreck in the
  mysterious land. It is inserted into the console in front of the band in the
  mysterious land after the stamped envelope has been posted. The tape is then
  given to the man in front of the cave to get the keycard.


CATTLE PROD
  Found in the seaweed after the electric eels. It is used to fight the shark
  in the ocean. It is inserted into the plug in the ocean.


COIN
  Found in the caves in the area south of the falling rocks. It is thrown into
  the wishing well in the caves. Brad can then choose the hard hat as a wish.


CROSS
  Found at the top of the steps in the graveyard. It is used to attack Dracula
  in the second area of the graveyard.


CYMBALS
  Found at the bottom-left corner of the graveyard. It is used to attack
  Dracula in the second area of the graveyard.


DEODORANT CAN
  Found at the right side of the ice block in the wasteland. It is worn by Brad
  so that he can approach the eskimo in the wasteland.


DICE
  Found on the table in the entrance room of the ice castle. They are thrown to
  open one or more doors in the hall of the ice castle.


DRESS
  Found by giving the money to Benn in his costume shop in the town. It is worn
  by Brad in the changing room to open the doorway to the wasteland.


FAN
  Found at the right side of the blue panel in the cave in the mysterious land.
  It is used in the battle against the witch in her castle.


FIRE EXTINGUISHER
  Found in the ice castle after attacking the match on the troll's foot with
  the matchbox. It is used in the battle against the witch in her castle.


FISH
  Found in the fish bowl on the table in the dungeon hall. It is not used.


FISH
  Found by throwing the frozen board over the hole in the wasteland.


FISH BOWL
  Found on the table in the dungeon hall. It is worn while in the ocean.


FISHING ROD
  Found outside the igloo in the wasteland after the eskimo has been given the
  fish. It is used to attack the ice block in the wasteland.


FOOD
  Found at the bottom of the steps in the graveyard. It is eaten in the second
  area of the graveyard to avoid Dracula again.


FROZEN BOARD
  Found at the right side of the chasm at the north area of the wasteland. It
  is thrown over the hole that the fish keeps jumping out of.


GLASS
  Found in the bowl at the right side of the device in the ice castle hall. It
  is combined with the bottom-right hole in the laser beam room.


GLOVES
  Found on the cliff path at the left side of the four buttons. They are worn
  near the blue creature on the cliff path.


GUN
  Found by attacking the shelf in the middle-left room in the ice castle with
  the broom. It is inserted into the holster on the device in the hall.


HAIR
  Found on the pile of hair near the postbox in the mysterious land. It is
  inserted into the big nose in the junkyard of the mysterious land.


HARD HAT
  The hard hat can be chosen from the choice of wishes after throwing the coin
  into the wishing well in the caves. It is worn to pass the falling rocks.


JACK
  Found in the bottom-left room in the ice castle. After the laser system in
  the ice castle room has been destroyed, the jack is used on the door.


ICE CUBE
  Found in the top-left room in the ice castle. It is combined with the
  top-left hole in the laser beam room in the ice castle.


ICICLE
  Found by attacking the icicle in the top-right room in the ice castle with
  the broom. It is combined with the bottom-left hole in the laser beam room in
  the ice castle.


KEY
  Found by shouting help in the castle cell. The guard enters the cell and then
  drops the key before he leaves. It is used to unlock the shackles.


KEYCARD
  Found by giving the cassette tape with the band recording on it to the man in
  front of the cave in the mysterious land. It is used to unlock the door at
  the right side of the band so that Brad can enter the cloud area.


LETTER
  Found at the right side of the pile of envelopes in the mysterious land. It
  is combined with the stamp to make the stamped envelope.


MAGNET
  Found on a ledge in the caves. To find the room, walk through the top-left
  exit in the area with the falling rocks. The plank is put on the rock in the
  room and the monitor is thrown on the plank to launch Brad up to the magnet.
  It is combined with the string to make the magnet on string.


MAGNET ON STRING
  Made by combining the magnet with the string in the caves. It is inserted
  into the hole in a room in the caves to get the thread. To find the room,
  walk south from the falling rocks and then go through the bottom-left exit.


MAGNIFYING GLASS
  Found in the bottom-right room in the ice castle. It is combined with the
  top-right hole in the laser beam room in the ice castle.


MATCH
  Found by getting the matchbox in the ice castle maze after the big hand
  room. It is inserted into the sleeping troll's foot.


MATCHBOX
  Found in the ice castle maze after the big hand room. It is used to attack
  the match on the sleeping troll's foot.


MEAT
  Found by giving money to Frank in his shop in the town. It can be eaten by
  Brad, but it does not have to be used in the game and no points are given.


MEGAPHONE
  Found in the middle-right room in the ice castle. It is combined with the
  whistle to make the megaphone whistle.


MEGAPHONE WHISTLE
  Made by combining the megaphone with the whistle. It is used to attack the
  window at the north end of the hall in the ice castle.


MONEY
  Found by attacking the thief with the sword on the way to the town. It can be
  given to Frank in the town to get the meat. It is given to the mage to be
  sent to the cliff path. It is given to Benn to be shown the dress. It is
  given to the mage to be sent to the graveyard.


MONITOR
  Found in a room in the caves. To find the room, walk south from the falling
  rocks and then go through the bottom-left exit. After the plank has been
  combined with the rock, the monitor is thrown on the plank.


MUD
  Found by combining the thread with the rings outside the rock meditator's
  room in the caves. It is combined with the seaweed to make the muddy seaweed.


MUDDY SEAWEED
  Made by combining the mud with the seaweed in the caves. It is combined with
  the branch to make the muddy seaweed with leaves.


MUDDY SEAWEED WITH LEAVES
  Made by combining the branch with the muddy seaweed in the caves. It is worn
  while in the bucket at the end of the caves section to exit the caves.


PAPERCLIP
  Found in the hole in the dungeon cell. It is used to unlock the cell door. It
  is used to unlock the door in the blue panel cave in the mysterious land.


PEN
  Found in the pile of pens in the junkyard of the mysterious land.


PLANK
  Found in a room in the caves. To find the room, walk through the top-left
  exit in the area with the falling rocks. It is combined with the rock.


PLANKS
  Two planks are found in the mysterious land shipwreck. One is thrown from the
  small cross in the sand just south of the water in the middle of the area and
  the other plank is thrown from the middle of the first plank.


PLATE
  Found at the bottom-left corner of the graveyard.


RAG
  Found in the shipwreck after the two planks have been used to cross the
  water. It is used on the wall in the blue panel cave after the canister has
  been thrown at the wall. Using the rag reveals the button on the wall.


REMOTE CONTROL
  Found one screen south of the shipwreck in the mysterious land. It is used
  after the cassette has been put into the console in front of the band.


RING
  Found in front of the fireplace in the left room of the castle. It is
  combined with the witch after attacking her with the fan in her castle.


ROCKS
  There are eighteen rocks on the floor in the caves. Four rocks of each size
  are given to the rock meditator for the string. The remaining rocks can be
  given to the rock meditator for extra points.


ROPE
  Found at the right side of the bridge on the cliff path. It is thrown off the
  end of the path after crossing the boulder on the cliff path.


SEAWEED
  Found on the left side of the boulder near the pool at the start of the caves
  section. It is combined with the mud to make the muddy seaweed.


SHELL
  After releasing the fish from the fence in the ocean, the fish will swim away
  and returns later to drop the shell. It is given to the turtle.


SHOVEL
  Found at the bottom-left corner of the graveyard. It is used to attack
  Dracula.


SOCK
  Found at the back of the pile of socks in the junkyard of the mysterious
  land. It is combined with the coins outside the mysterious land shipwreck.


SOCK FULL OF COINS
  Made by combining the sock with the coins outside the mysterious land
  shipwreck. It is used to attack the robot at the shipwreck entrance.


SNOWBALL
  Found at the left side of the frozen pond in the wasteland. It is thrown at
  the ice creature.


STAMP
  Found in the pile of pens in the junkyard of the mysterious land. It is
  combined with the envelope to make the stamped envelope.


STAMPED ENVELOPEE
  Made by combining the stamp with the envelope. It is inserted into the
  postbox in the mysterious land. The cassette tape can't be inserted into the
  console in front of the band until the stamped envelope has been posted.


STONE
  Found in the first alcove after passing the blue creature on the cliff path.
  It is worn at the next chasm to collect a bigger stone.


STONE
  Found by wearing the stone from the alcove on the cliff path at the chasm
  after the blue creature. It is thrown at the boulder above the chasm.


STRING
  Found by giving four rocks of each size to the rock meditator in the cave
  maze. It is combined with the magnet to make the magnet on string.


SUN TAN LOTION
  Found in the bowl at the right side of the device in the ice castle hall. It
  is worn by Brad after the big hand grabs him in the ice castle.


SWORD
  Found on the ground after the thief attempts to attack Brad on the way to the
  town. It is used to attack the thief.


THREAD
  Found in a room in the caves. To find the room, walk south from the falling
  rocks and then go through the bottom-left exit. The thread is collected by
  inserting the magnet on string into the hole in the cave. It is combined with
  the rings outside the rock meditator's room in the caves to find the mud.


TRAY
  Found in front of the volcano in the mysterious land. It is thrown onto the
  blue panel in the cave in the mysterious land after the bag of marbles have
  been thrown onto the blue panel.


VACUUM CLEANER
  Found in the second area of the graveyard. It is used to attack the ghost in
  the battle against the witch in her castle.


WHISTLE
  Found at the top of the hall in the ice castle. It is combined with the
  megaphone to make the megaphone whistle.


WORM
  Found by looking at the dirt patch near the left side of the skull in the
  ocean. It is given to Mr. Fish in the ocean to make the turtle appear.
