1.                                Introduction

This is the seventh in a series of eight planned adventures in the Ben Jordan:
Paranormal Investigator series. The games can be downloaded for free from the
developer's home page (http://www.grundislavgames.com/benjordan). In this game,
Ben travels to Rome to investigate the murder of a priest. Alice and Simon from
the previous games once again come along to help, and before long the trio are
investigating the mysterious Knights of St. Anthony. This is a long, well made
adventure from Grundislav, with a detailed and interesting plot.

2.                                Walkthrough

===============================================================================


APARTMENT
---------

Use the boot at the right side of the room: It gives Ben memories of a camping
trip when he was seven years old. Look at the photograph on the top shelf of
the bookcase to see a picture of Ben's grandfather, Arthur. Look at the wound
on Arthur's neck: Ben had never noticed it before. Exit the view of the photo
and the phone will start to ring. Pick up the phone to talk to Alessandro
Renzi: He is in jail at the police station in Rome and wants Ben to come and
help him. Use the phone and call Simon: Simon agrees to come to Rome. Use the
phone and call Alice: She'll do her best to make it to Rome.

L'ALBERGO DANTE
---------------

There is nothing to do here at the moment, so use the door to exit the hotel.


POLICE STATION
--------------

Talk to the desk sergeant about Alessandro Renzi: His cell is the last one down
the hall. Talk about the Murder: Renzi claims to have been in a trance when he
did it. Talk about the Crime Scene: He won't tell Ben the location. Say That's
All. Get a pencil from the cup on the desk. Open the door on the right.

Walk right to cell 3 and talk to Alessandro about the Murder: He admits that he
killed the priest, but says that something else was controlling him. Talk about
the Priest: His name was Thomas Ryan. Talk about the Demon: He saw a flash of
light and felt an energy flow through his body. Talk about Himself: He was an
actor. Talk about Acting: He performs on stage at the Teatro Manzoni. Ask why
did he call you?: He was given Ben's number by a mystery caller. Talk about the
Voice: The caller had an English accent. Talk about the Crime Scene: The murder
took place in an alley near the Piazza Mignanelli. Exit the station.


L'ALBERGO DANTE
---------------

Talk to Simon about the Laptop. Ask Simon to research Thomas Ryan: He was a
priest at a church in San Silvestro in Capite. Ask Simon to research Teatro
Manzoni: Simon gives him the address. Ask Simon to research the Crime Scene:
Simon gives him the address. Exit the hotel.


TEATRO MANZONI
--------------

Talk to the usher about Alessandro Renzi: She hasn't seen him in a few days.
Talk about the Murder: She hadn't heard about it. Talk about the Door: It goes
to the actor's dressing area. Exit the theatre.


CRIME SCENE
-----------

Get the paper below the door to find the business card. Exit the area.


L'ALBERGO DANTE
---------------

Give the business card to Simon to get the altered business card. Exit the
hotel.


TEATRO MANZONI
--------------

Show the altered business card to the usher. Open the right door to enter the
dressing area. Get the tape recorder on the desk. Walk back through the doorway
to the hall to see Percival. Exit the theatre.


SAN SILVESTRO IN CAPITE
-----------------------

Talk to the Priest about Murder: He has never heard of Thomas Ryan. Talk about
the Church: It was built in the 8th century over the ruins of a pagan temple,
and the church houses relics. Talk about Relics: A relic in the wrong hand
could have serious consequences. Talk about Demons: He mentions exorcism. Exit
the church and return to L'Albergo Dante to complete the first day.

L'ALBERGO DANTE
---------------

Talk to Alice about her Family History: Her family is from Smailholm. Talk
about Marcus Wilkins: He visited Philadelphia in 1804 to infiltrate a witch
cult in the village. Exit the hotel.


POLICE STATION
--------------

Open the right doors and walk right to see that Alessandro has hung himself.
Get the piece of paper on the floor outside his cell. Return to the reception
area and talk to the desk sergeant about Renzi's Death: His visitors may have
made him realise there was no hope. Talk about Visitors: A priest was sent
from the Vatican to see him. Exit the station.


L'ALBERGO DANTE
---------------

Talk to Simon and ask him to research Father Ryan's Murder: The murder hasn't
been reported yet. Exit the hotel.


SAN SILVESTRO IN CAPITE
-----------------------

Talk to Father McNamara about The Vatican: He was instructed by an official to
deny any knowledge of the murder. Talk about the Vatican Official: His name was
Vincenzo Bianchi. Exit the church.


PERCY'S HOTEL
-------------

Talk to Percival about the Murder: He hadn't heard about it. Talk about Oxford:
He has been on sabbatical since the start of the year. Talk about Quincy
Sanbourne: He has never met him. Talk about Demons: He doesn't believe in them.
Exit the hotel.


L'ALBERGO DANTE
---------------

Talk to Simon and ask him to research Vincenzo Bianchi: He works in St. Peter's
Basilica. Exit the hotel.


BASILICA DI SAN PIETRO
----------------------

Talk to the Swiss guard about Vincenzo Bianchi: He tells Ben to see Cardinal
Genovese. Talk about Cardinal Genovese: He is inside. Talk about Himself: He
likes Rome, but not the people in it. Enter the basilica and walk east to the
next area. Open the door to enter the confessional. Use the tape recorder on
the shelf. Exit the confessional and walk west to the next area. Talk to
Genovese about Vincenzo Bianchi: He is not in his office today. Talk about
Bianchi's Office: It's through the door behind the rope. Talk about St. Peter's
Basilica: It is built over the Vatican Grotto. Talk about the Confession:
Genovese takes him into the confessional.

Use the tape recorder and select Record. Use the bench to sit down and then
talk to the window. Select any of the confessions to record it. Talk to
Genovese again and talk about the Confession to return to the confessional. Use
the tape recorder and select Play. Exit the confessional and walk west to the
next area. Open the door behind the rope. Look at the nameplate outside the
left door, then open the left door to enter Bianchi's office.

Get the piece of paper on the desk to find out where Bianchi lives. Use the
notepad on the notepad on the desk to copy the symbol. Use the suicide note in
the inventory to see a faded symbol on the back. Use the pencil on the back of
the note to highlight the symbol. Combine the two symbols in the inventory to
find that they are exact copies. Exit the basilica.


PERCY'S HOTEL
-------------

Show the symbol to Percival: It belongs to a group known as the Knights of St.
Anthony. Talk to Percival about the Knights of St. Anthony: They are a very
secret group and he doesn't know if they still exist. Exit the hotel.


SAN SILVESTRO IN CAPITE
-----------------------

Talk to Father McNamara about the Knights of St. Anthony: He mentions St.
Anthony the Great and St. Anthony of Padua. Talk about St. Anthony the Great:
He was born in 251 AD and was the first St. Anthony. Talk about St. Anthony of
Padua: He was born in the 13th Century, and helps with finding lost items.
Exit the church.


L'ALBERGO DANTE
---------------

Talk to Simon and ask him to research Via Casimiro Gennari: Simon puts the
location on the map. Exit the hotel.


BIANCHI'S APARTMENT
-------------------

Talk to the man about Himself. Ask why he is upset: The toilet is broken. Talk
about the Plumber: Nobody has come out yet. Exit the area.


TEATRO MANZONI
--------------

Open the right door to enter the dressing room. Use one of the costumes to get
the plumber's costume. Exit the theatre.


L'ALBERGO DANTE
---------------

Talk to Alice and ask for Accompaniment. Exit the hotel.


BIANCHI'S APARTMENT
-------------------

Use the call box at the side of the right door to talk to Bianchi. Tell him
that it is the Plumber: He unlocks the door. Open the door to enter the
building. Use the plumber's costume on Ben. Talk to Alice about the Plan. Open
the right door to enter Bianchi's apartment. Wait until Alice knocks on the
door. When Bianchi walks out of the room, get the keys from the hook. Wait for
Bianchi to return to the apartment, then exit the apartment.


L'ALBERGO DANTE
---------------

Answer "Belongs to Knights of St. Anthony" when Simon asks if Bianchi is
involved with something.


BIANCHI'S APARTMENT
-------------------

After Simon leaves, use the keys on the door and then open it. Use the keys on
the right door, then use the keys on Bianchi's apartment door. Open the door.
Walk west to the bedroom and use the strange object. The aim here is to select
objects that are lost. Select the fountain of youth, the island, the galleon
and the ark of the covenant to hear a click. Pull the handle to open the box.
Get the cross and Bianchi will return. Use the plumber's costume on Ben and
then walk through the top doorway.


BASILICA DI SAN PIETRO
----------------------

Talk to Alice and tell her about Performance Art: Alice and Simon distract the
Swiss guard and Ben enters the basilica. Walk right and open the door behind
the rope. Open the left door to enter Bianchi's office. Use the cross on the
gold box and then use the cross to open a secret doorway. Walk through the
doorway to the altarpiece room. Look at the six plaques in the altarpiece:
Bianchi then enters the room and asks Ben who he is. Select any choice. Bianchi
then tells Ben to find the exorcism amulet in the Vatican grotto.

Talk to Bianchi about the Amulet: It can only be taken under special
circumstances. Talk about the Knights of St. Anthony: They have been around for
many years and in a few days will gain glory, although Bianchi doesn't
elaborate on this. Walk north to the statue room. Use the cloth to look under
it and see some writing. Walk south and talk to Bianchi about the Inscription,
then ask him for help: It says "do not touch the amulet with bare hands". Use
the plumber's costume in the inventory to find a glove. Use the glove on the
amulet to take the amulet.


WINE CELLAR
-----------

After the cutscene, Ben wakes up in a wine cellar. Use the loose ring on the
bottom-right corner of the barrel to cut the rope. Use the loose ring again to
get a piece of metal. Use the spigot on the wine barrel three times to reveal
an indentation on the floor. Use the piece of metal on the indentation. Use the
compartment to complete the game.

ALTERED BUSINESS CARD
  Found by giving the business card to Simon at the L'Albergo Dante. It is
  shown to the usher at the Teatro Manzoni.


BIANCHI'S KEYS
  Found in Bianchi's apartment after Alice has knocked on the door to distract
  Bianchi. They are used to unlock the doors to Bianchi's apartment.


BUSINESS CARD
  Found near the door at the crime scene. It is given to Simon at the L'Albergo
  Dante so that he can make the altered business card.


CROSS
  Found in the wooden box in the bedroom at Bianchi's apartment. It is used on
  the gold box in Bianchi's office at the Basilica di San Pietro. The cross is
  then pulled to open a secret doorway.


GLOVE
  Found by using the plumber's costume in the inventory. It is used on the
  amulet in the Vatican grotto.


NOTEPAD
  Available at the start of the game. It is used on the notepad in Bianchi's
  office at the Basilica di San Pietro to get the symbol.


PENCIL
  After talking to the desk sergeant in the police station, the pencil can be
  taken from the blue cup on the desk sergeant's desk. After the suicide note
  has been used in the inventory and the faint symbol has been revealed, the
  pencil is used on the suicide note to reveal the symbol.


PIECE OF METAL
  Found in the wine cellar by using the loose ring on the wine barrel for the
  second time. After the spigot has been used three times on the big wine
  barrel, the piece of metal is used on the indentation.


PLUMBER'S COSTUME
  After talking to the man outside Bianchi's apartment about the plumber, the
  costume can be found in the dressing room at the Teatro Manzoni. It is worn
  by Ben before entering Bianchi's apartment. After the cross has been taken
  from the wooden box in Bianchi's apartment, the costume is used on Ben again.
  It is used in the inventory to find a glove.


SUICIDE NOTE
  Found outside Alessandro Renzi's cell at the police station on day 2. It is
  used in the inventory to find a faint image of a symbol on the back. The
  pencil is then used on the suicide note to find a symbol.


SYMBOL
  Found by using the notepad on the in Bianchi's office at the Basilica di San
  Pietro. It is combined with the symbol on the back of the suicide note. It
  is shown to Percival in his apartment.


SYMBOL
  After the suicide note has been used in the inventory and the faint symbol
  has been revealed, the pencil is used on the suicide note to reveal the
  symbol. It is combined with the symbol from Bianchi's notepad. It is shown to
  Percival in his apartment.


TAPE RECORDER
  Found on the desk in the dressing room at the Teatro Manzoni. It is used on
  the shelf in the confessional at the Basilica di San Pietro. It is set to
  record when Genovese is in the confessional. After Ben has made a confession,
  ask Genovese for another confession. The tape recorder can then be set to
  play to keep Genovese in the confessional for a few minutes.
