Below you'll find an overview of Adventure Games that have received a very high rating based on our reviews, the list is sorted based on highest rated Adventure Game first combined with recency of the review we've done. Be sure to also check-out our Top 100 Adventure Games of all time, as well as the winners of the Adventure Game Awards (Aggies) that we hold on a yearly cadence.

The 7th Guest  (1993)

A lack of the elements that make an adventure timeless make this simply a good game.

Chemicus  (2002)

A good, solid, successful edutainment title, which could have excelled as an adventure were it given a meatier story.

Gilbert Goodmate and the Mushroom of Phungoria  (2001)

An enjoyable enough adventure. Traditionalists will appreciate the LucasArts style, but it is far from flawless.

The Watchmaker  (2001)

Has ample entertainment value.

Shivers Two:  Harvest of Souls  (1997)

A thoroughly enjoyable game that stays true to its predecessor, but doesn’t cut any new ground in terms of game play.

Qin: Tomb of the Middle Kingdom  (0)

Qin is a nice dreamy, leisurely escape that I would recommend to anyone interested in the subject matter.

Reah: Face the Unknown  (1999)

Graphically beautiful game designed for the hard core gamers

Hopkins FBI  (1998)

If you’re the sort of person who likes this sort of thing, then this is the sort of thing you’ll like. I did!

The Dig  (1995)

Sci-fi fans and Myst addicts might enjoy, but the average adventure gamer can do quite a bit better.

The Cassandra Galleries  (1997)

A nice, mild romp, but not a genre-definer by any stretch of the imagination.

Inherent Evil  (1999)

It's fast, it's fun, it's scary - and I don't just mean the maze or the no-save feature!

Chronique des Silencieux  (2024)

Chronique des Silencieux features striking story beats, characters, visuals, and music. However, the gameplay frustrations and technical issues become tremendously irritating, so players may question whether they want to push through to the end.

Mia and the Dragon Princess  (2023)

Wales Interactive has its fans (rightfully so), and they will know what they’re in for here. But for the uninitiated or those looking for a cheesy, goofy adventure story that satisfies, Mia and the Dragon Princess ultimately fails to deliver the goods.

Colossal Cave  (2023)

Despite a lovingly crafted 3D reimagining, Colossal Cave recreates the original too closely to appeal to much more than game history buffs and nostalgia seekers – or very patient players who don’t mind repetitive, arduous gameplay.

In Rays of the Light  (2020)

In Rays of the Light offers a solitary experience, letting you explore some ruins after a catastrophe cleared them of any human inhabitants. Unfortunately, the lack of any actual substance makes the gameplay feel as gloomy as the setting is.
