Dreamfall Chapters

Good

Graphics/Animation: 5/5

The Devs aim was so high, but there are some technical issues and engines switching that spoiled their dreams, but overall they presented amazing detailed atmosphere and life into the game by lots background characters, changes, wide range of exploration.

Design/Gameplaying: 3.5/5

The Game a strange start with small range of locations gives at a false feeling of the game’s direction, but shortly the game reflects its magic and expands much. The gameplaying takes down curve with each chapter away frim it being objective, and then exploration seems suddenly exhausting, and smears the obstacles off the players mind, so when a puzzle is present, it didnt seem like fun.

Music/Audio: 4.5/5
Classy and hits the story quite well.

Story: 4/5

Its the strongest pillar of game that keeps one player crawling, the decision making and their consequences keep one on guard and adds the thrill over it, many questions unanswered but i wasnt really expecting much answers.

Puzzles: 1/5

If could say (and i will be generous) there are 2 puzzles each chapter, that makes out 10 puzzles of 20-25 hours of gameplaying.

Total Score: 72/100

On summer day vacation, everything is possible!

This game really is a true wonder of design, when linearity becomes a far off style, and all the great traditional adventuring elements blend together beautifully !

Graphics/Animation 4.5/5: Graphics are beautifully in hand drawn style of the curse of monkey island (nothing to added)

Design/Gameplaying 5/5: You find you self busy (real busy) doing other things while you are stuck, it like this, this game’ design is Master Piece.

Story 4/5: might look childish, but underneath this childishness there are many big meaning that will appeal to adults.

Music/Audio 5/5 : if can give this criteria 10 out 5, i would not be exaggerating at all.

Puzzles 5/5: head spinning, challenging , logical, great!

Daedalic follows the steps of Sierra (15 years Later)

The Story is an Absolute Fairy Tale that takes the Hero from his Doubts of being a bad Omen into Discovering the good of himself, which makes it Unique in a way, considering his actions through the Games getting from being Pretty Mean until he becomes so Tendering and Caring, is very well written .

The Graphics i wouldn’t say more than it is more Beautiful than The Whispered World itself, which is enough for whom played TWW to Connect/Imagine how great it is, and what makes it better is the variations of Color’s Contrast from a one Scene/screen to the other .

The Animations really would have been better but considering the obvious caring of the developers towards all other elements and the (obvious) Low Budget control, i must admit it (the Animations) severed the game right well, i am with spending money on the creation of the Puzzles crafting rather than some cutscenes , the prefect Lipsing and an ideal characters Movements.

The Voice Acting all through the games is top notch and specially of Nuri’s (i would love to see the women behind that Voice because she really touched me with her laughs and cries and soothing voice) i really fell in love with Nuri . the only thing that kinda annoyed me was Geron’s (the hero)  only when he gave his Descriptions towards the surroundings and the inventory’s ...etc!;...his Tone suddenly/strangely changes from the playable character into a narrator’s , but except from that his dialogues were Superb , and all the other NPCs voices were also Great as well. even the Narration between the chapter was really top notch.. so i can not dare to complain (overally).

The Music is really Sensational and Touching i used to leave the Musical theme(at the Main page) almost always every time i start the game playing until it finishes and then continue my Game or restore one,  and the music accompanied the playing is the same as well so its not continues and disappears but i guess that was for the good so the player would not get bored of it . i really ought to get the sound Track .

The Gameplaying is very smooth, from moving around , selecting Inventory Objects and interacting with the surroundings and NPCs, but though it is still not the best of Daedalic’s Adventures, maybe i can say its mainly because the limited Puzzle Screens provided in each part until you can progress and move to another Chapter/area, and the worst of that ,mant parts consisted only of one SINGLE Puzzle screen! .

At Last about the game Difficulty players should not expect it to be similar to TWW or ANB, the game puzzles or as Straight Forward STILL Fun and Nicely and Logically crafted.

Bizarre Adventures of Woodruff and the Schnibble, The

Stars - 45

Rating by Advie posted on Jun 5, 2012 | edit | delete

Woodruff game is absolutly up to year '12 Adventuring standards .

When you mention Coktel Vision the 1st thing that comes to your mind apart from it being a Part of Sierra’s Golden Age of Adventure Gaming is Gobliiins (trilogy) and 2nd is The Bizarre Adventures of Woodruff and the Schnibble .
The game was released 1994 and it was a sort of breakthrough for Adventure Gaming at that time ,especially for Sierra_Online as the high-resolution used for Woodruff and the Schnibble is what Sierra had used and rolled on with it, to take the company to a next level. also The elimination of verbs scrolling interface to a simple one left click . which Sierra used at their next developed games Such KQ7 .
as fun as it would seem but at that time the game hadn’t got as much credits for that, and many complained about the often ludicrously hard puzzles, the lack of original music, and the repetitive background sound effects; complaints that were often echoed in every review came out for the game.

The story as it goes from the start describes how humanity has finally returned to the surface of the Earth after living near the planet’s core for centuries, following a nuclear war, to discover a peaceful race mutants called Boozooks, living in the middle of the jungles that now the whole world. The humans easily overpower or dominate the world again and the (Boozooks as well), killing many of them while enslaving the rest.

The game starts with a scene inside a small house, where Woodruff (our hero) just a little baby mutant playing with his teddy bear on a table, while another man presumed to be his father works on a contraption (looked like a pair of headphones). Suddenly, someone breaks in, and Woodruff’s father as fast jams the contraption onto his son’s head, and hide him into a box. The father get knocked out and dragged away, all that while Woodruff watches in horror from his hiding place.
Your playing and control over Woodruff starts within moments of this terrible event, woodruff transformed into a teenager in a jiffy .
Woodruff not able to remember anything of what happened as growing up that fast left him with blacked memory for things are very old and distant, when all had just happened upon the just last minute ,who he is? or what has just happened?, only one thing clear in Woodruff’s mind is the word “Schnibble” that echos on n on.

as you move on into the world of Woodruff’s the more things around you and goals become clearer.

The Game comes with a cartoon-like appearance similar in art style and design to the Gobliiins series ,it is fully Voiced and such great voice acting as well, with some issues with the Subtitles as the game was not Originally released with, but that was fixed at SCUMMVM .

The Game really could not had been titled any thing but Bizarre!, from weird characters , Strange voices, and warped humor to the layout of classic adventure gaming, that will challenge every and even the most greatest experienced player.
new Adventure gamers would surely be annoyed with Woodruff slow movement..no double clicking to a fast jump into the next screen as well ...etc and all the luxurious.

The puzzles of the game are downright hysterical (Bizarre) with a lot of interesting (original) inventory ones, were nothing is what it seems!!.

The inventory itself is always easily accessed by one right mouse click. but (uncommonly) discludes using Inventory with each other.

The Bizarre Adventures of Woodruff and the Schnibble holds more than 14-18 hours of gameplaying, with a great story, great humor and above all challenging puzzles that will kick you back right to the great early classic days.

The Bizarre Adventures of Woodruff and the Schnibble is much fun Adventure to play even now, after almost more than 16 years of its release.
