Tape: Unveil the Memories getting ready to roll out in two weeks

Ever wish you could turn back time and have a do-over? Well, it may not be possible in real life, but it will be in the upcoming Tape: Unveil the Memories, a first-person psychological thriller due out next month.

In the small Spanish town of Antumbria in the 1990s, an acclaimed horror movie director has gone missing, but not before recording a VHS tape to send to his daughter Iria asking for her help. If Iria is to piece together the mystery of "what events led up to his tragic disappearance," she'll need to "recover her lost memories" through the use of a special Super8 camera that allows her to "rewind, pause, or fast-forward objects in time." However, in the search for clues to her father's whereabouts, the young protagonist may also uncover her family's "dark secrets" along the way.

Created by BlackChiliGoat Studio and published by Gammera Nest, Tape is a product of PlayStation Talents, an intiative from Sony Interactive Entertainment Spain created to support local developers. Presented in first-person 3D, the game will send Iria through "an eerie location heavily influenced by her dad's work in the past." The surreal environments she explores represent "the nightmares that inhabit Iria's memories," and to succeed she'll have to "use her video camera to affect objects, moving them backwards, forwards or pausing them in time." Only by doing so can she solve the puzzles keeping her from learning "the information and clues (needed) to find the truth."

We won't have to fast-forward time very far to begin playing, as Tape: Unveil the Memories is due to launch on Steam for Windows PC on April 14th, along with a console version on PlayStation 4 and 5.
