Pants Quest in final leg of development

There have been many famous "Quest" games in the adventure genre over the years, from King's Quest to Police Quest to Space Quest, and of course Adventure Gamers' own incomparable free Christmas Quest trilogy. The next game hoping to join this classic (and not-so-classic) pantheon is a quest of a much smaller scope than usual but no less important: the upcoming Pants Quest by indie Australian developer Ghost Cat Games.

Pants Quest is exactly what is sounds like: "an adventure about finding your pants." Players control a young man who awakens on a rainy morning to find this is one of those days where "just getting dressed and leaving the house feels like an impossible task." What's worse, in searching for his missing trousers dressed only in a shirt, tie and underwear, the protagonist discovers that "the more he tries to find them, the more things seem to spin out of control." 

Designed as a "very short" pixel art adventure with a stripped-down SCUMM-style interface and a variety of "retro-style point-and-click puzzles on your quest to get out the house," the game follows "one man's emotional journey to deal with the hurdles that life can throw at you on a bad day." The offbeat humour is intended to be amusing, of course, but the story is "also kind of introspective," as befits the sort of "crappy morning that makes you rethink every decision you’ve ever made while wandering around in your underwear."

There is no firm target release date just yet, but Pants Quest is getting close as it's scheduled to launch  on Steamsometime in February for Windows PC.
