Marcella Moon returns next month in pursuit of the Killer at the Cove

Nancy Drew and Carol Reed may have a huge head start when it comes to prolific indie detective mysteries, but Hidden Ocean's Marcella Moon is doing her best to make up ground with her fourth adventure, due to arrive next month in the form of Killer at the Cove.

Hotel owner and "avid diver" Jack Delmar met an untimely demise when he "tragically slipped and fell on the deck of his boat." The police believe it to be accidental, but his daughter is certain he was intentionally murdered, so she enlists the services of Marcella Moon to investigate. It'll be up to the amateur sleuth (and you as the player) to determine whether Jack's death was indeed just pure misfortune, or whether "one of the residents of La Fortuna Cove (is) not telling the whole truth." 

As with its predecessors, Killer at the Cove is a slideshow-style point-and-click mystery that sees players explore a variety of environments blending real photographs and rendered images. Here you'll get to traverse the "sunny Southern California beach town of La Fortuna Cove," but this is no vacation. Instead you'll need to "follow your hunches as you collect clues and verify alibis," and solve a "variety of challenging puzzles" along the way if you're to "find the culprit and choose your own ending."

Marcella Moon: Killer at the Cove is due out for Windows and Mac on April 29th, with preorders available now at a reduced price on itch.io. Though not yet announced, the first three games in the series have appeared on Steam so there's a good chance the latest mystery will do so as well.
