I Am Your Lawyer makes opening statements

Phoenix Wright taught us that being a lawyer can be a fun way to spend an adventure game, and soon you can try it out for yourself in Games Incubator's upcoming legal defense sim I Am Your Lawyer.

Players assume the role of an ambitious attorney who must defend a number of different clients in court, from "innocent, harmless people [to] shady guys (murderers, thieves, crooks)." In order to succeed, however, you must first "immerse yourself in the case files and analyze the course of events step by step." This involves visiting crime scenes, interrogating all interested parties, and commissioning forensic reports based on the evidence, before heading to court and attempting to win over the jury and exposing flaws in the prosecution's arguments. Or, if all else fails, perhaps a well-placed bribe will help you win your case.

The goal of I Am Your Lawyer is to put players directly in the shoes of the protagonist, not only with its first-person 3D perspective, but also by giving you the freedom to approach each case as you see fit. During interviews, you'll have "a range of tools at your disposal such as audio recordings, crime scene photos" and more that will "lead you to interesting, unexplored details." In the lab you can consult various experts and request detailed reports about things such as fingerprints, surveillance tapes and handwriting analysis, but everything takes time and you have only a limited amount, so you must choose which evidence to prioritize. During trials, it's not just the witnesses you need to concern yourself with, but the jury as well, as learning more about them personally will help you "choose a strategy for action [and] decide who to focus on during your final speech."

As with most major trials, it may be some time before an actual date is set, but I Am Your Lawyer is due to be launched on Steam for Windows PC when ready.
