Demo offers early tour of Castle Dornstein

Rather than a whodunit, as in Digital Mosaic Games' previous freeware adventure Metaphobia, next the acclaimed indie developer is planning a whotookit, in the form of the upcoming Castle Dornstein.

Legend has it that a monk named Gregorovitz once wrote a book known as The Devil's Diary before he "went mad and renounced his faith." The tome disappeared for hundreds of years, before finally being discovered by Lord Fiodor Dornstein in the 19th century. A young medieval Latin scholar named Hemlock is invited to the "crumbling Castle Dornstein" in the Bohemian countryside in order to translate the book. Unfortunately, it "goes missing on Hemlock’s first night at the castle." Everyone is a possible suspect, and "no one can be trusted," so to find the culprit you must "explore a castle where secrets hide in the shadows and a dark history waits to be discovered."

Like its predecessor, Castle Dornstein is a traditional point-and-click pixel art mystery that sees you "solve puzzles as you search for clues." Along with scouring the "many rooms of the castle" for evidence, you'll also get to venture out to the "nearby village of Krkanov, where gossip about the castle points to an ominous past." It soon becomes clear that this is no petty crime, and "as your investigation continues, you begin to unravel a mystery much greater and far more disturbing than a stolen book."

There is no firm date for when you can begin your palatial sleuthing, but it shouldn't be too far off as Castle Dornstein is "coming soon" on Steam for Windows PC.
