Demo conjured up for Blackberry the Witch: Journey

The current calendar may be rapidly winding down, but there's already no shortage of promising new games on the horizon for 2022. One of the first that's scheduled to arrive is Creepybox Games' point-and-click fantasy adventure, Blackberry the Witch: Journey

Boarding schools are tough places to grow up at best of times, but all the more so when it's a school for "special children" with magical powers. Blackberry is a young witch whose "dark and mysterious past has locked her within the walls of the orphanage." She has resigned herself to her fate but is determined to help her best friend Raspberry, who is "associated with a dark cult." It won't be easy, and she may be called upon to do things she'd never have imagined, such as uniting with her "sworn enemy," but Raspberry is willing to do whatever is necessary to succeed.

Blackberry the Witch is a classic-styled point-and-click adventure with a simple interface and stylish hand-painted aesthetic. We don't know much about what her adventure will entail, but players can expect to meet plenty of characters – some human, some not – and encounter a variety of "challenging" puzzles to solve along the way. For a sample of what to expect, a playable demo is available now on Steam, introducing the young heroine as she completes some preliminary tasks in and around Thorns Boarding School.

If you like what you see, the full version of the game isn't far off, as Blackberry the Witch: Journey is due to be released for Windows PC on January 14th.
