Destined Hero’s Journey Begins: Captain Disaster Returns

Team Disaster, the creators behind the Captain Disaster franchise, have announced their latest game, Captain Disaster and The Two Worlds of Riskara. The game follows the eponymous Captain Disaster as he answers a distress call from a mysterious ship and ends up on a planet desperate to rekindle its geothermal energy source. Along the way, players will discover a long-lasting legacy of an intergalactic empire long consigned to the history books and a secret that none of the planet's inhabitants know of.

Featuring a contextual one-click interface, a host of colorful characters, devious puzzles, detailed cartoon-style graphics, full voice acting, and an original soundtrack, players will help a race of aliens whose complex history is largely unknown, even to themselves. The game is a collaboration between award-winning developers Dave Seaman and Lorenzo Boni, who have been point-and-click adventure game fans for many years and have collaborated previously on small games and even a children's book.

The game's soundtrack is composed by Eric Galluzzo, a recent finalist in the Ryan Leach Composition Competition, whose previous work includes the OST for The Corruption Within. The developers have stated that playing the two previous Captain Disaster games is optional for this one. However, there will be some references to events in the earlier games and even a returning character from Stomping Boots.

"Making this game together has been a real joy, and we hope that comes across in the game, and we sincerely hope you have as much fun playing it as we are having making it," said Team Disaster. Captain Disaster and The Two Worlds of Riskara is available to wishlist now on Steam, with a playable demo planned for release in Q1 2023.
