The Invincible: A First-Person Game Based on the Novel by Stanislaw Lem
An upcoming first-person game, The Invincible, is based on the novel of the same name by bestselling author and futurologist Stanislaw Lem. The game is developed by Starward Industries and published by 11 bit studios, and is set to release on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5 in 2023.
The Invincible is a narrative-focused hard science fiction adventure that follows the story of Astrobiologist Yasna and her crew, who end up on the unexplored planet Regis III after getting entangled in a space race. What was meant to be a scientific journey quickly turns into a search mission for lost crewmates, and Yasna must follow the trail while being aware that every decision she makes could bring her closer to danger.
Throughout the game, players will uncover mind-boggling scientific phenomena in a cosmic, philosophical adventure set within eerie landscapes. They will also discover fragments of what’s lost and report back to their Astrogator, who will aid them in tough times. The game will force players to rethink mankind’s ambitions and biases, as they make decisions and follow the mystery. They will also need to choose whether to interact with different creatures on Regis III and how to do so, as they uncover the true meaning of words like friend, companion, and enemy.
In today’s training video exercise, Starward Industries and 11 bit studios present you with a brief glimpse of life on Regis III. Initial recon has told us that Regis III seems to be an unusually calm planet, with idyllic and breathtaking vistas in abundance. We’ve seen no signs of herbivores or predators, which should make further human exploration of the planet a walk in the park.
