EOLIA Harmonises on Meta Quest 2 this Summer

It’s been said that music has healing properties. In Boston-based ROTU’s upcoming VR puzzle adventure, EOLIA, music’s power will be put to the test on a whole new level.

Building upon the lore of ROTU’s first game, IONIA, players will be thrust into a fantastical world of desert ruins, with “hints of a bustling civilization around every corner.” Taking on the role of adventurer Conga Dholak, players will explore EOLIA – a land ravaged by climate change. Through an “empathetic embrace of the world’s musical mythology,” and careful observation, Conga will absorb “musical lessons from the environment,” to “bring balance to the world.”

In EOLIA, the player’s body becomes the “instrument in Conga’s fight against climate change.” ROTU promises the game will take full advantage of the Meta Quest 2’s “immersive Hand Tracking technology,” allowing for fine-tuned actions such as the plucking of “magical stringed instruments” or turning the page of a book, as well as full body motions like riding “a mounted steed” and climbing ropes, ladders, and ledges.

EOLIA isn’t just about exploring the subject of climate change in the digital world, however, and ROTU hopes the game will make an impact in the real world as well. ROTU has committed “a portion of proceeds from EOLIA” will be donated to a “non-profit organization dedicated to fighting climate change.” ROTU CEO Jason Parks states, “Unlike the endless worlds we explore in gaming, in reality, we only have one planet to call our own. Through VR’s ability to truly transport us and instill a tangible sense of place, we hope to inspire people to see the beauty in our natural world and consider brave actions in their daily lives.”

EOLIA is set to launch this summer on Meta Quest 2 with English voice and text, with “text localization for additional languages coming post-launch.” You can follow the game’s development via ROTU’s websiteTwitterFacebook, and Instagram pages.
