First details dug up from The Quarry

What's better than one new horror game from Supermassive Games to look forward to later this year? How about two! While we aren't quite finished with The Dark Pictures Anthology just yet, with one final installment left to go to complete the first season, due up before that is an all-new supernatural teen thriller called The Quarry.

It's the last night of summer camp, and after all the kids have gone home the "teenage counselors of Hackett's Quarry throw a party to celebrate" with no adult supervision. But hormones aren't the only things raging tonight, as "things quickly take a turn for the worse" and the unsuspecting partiers begin falling prey to "blood-drenched locals and something far more sinister." Suddenly, what began as an evening of "friendly banter and flirtations" turns into one with "life-or-death decisions, as relationships build or break under the strain of unimaginable choices." Players will alternate control between all nine camp counselors, and their fates rest in your hands, as "any character can be the star of the show – or die before daylight comes."

In keeping with Supermassive's usual formula dating back to Until Dawn, The Quarry is a highly cinematic third-person adventure brought to life by an impressive cast of Hollywood talent, this time including David Arquette (Scream), Ariel Winter (Modern Family), Justice Smith (Jurassic World), Brenda Song (Dollface), Lance Henriksen (Aliens), and Lin Shaye (A Nightmare on Elm Street). With a focus primarily on narrative over gameplay, it's up to you whether you'll "dare to check what's behind that trap door" or "investigate the screams echoing from within the forest," just two of the many decisions you'll have to make that determine how the story will play out and "who lives to tell the tale." There will be "adjustable difficulty for all gameplay elements," right down to a "Movie Mode" that lets you simply "select how you want the story to unfold, kick back, and munch on some popcorn in between all the screams!" And if you want to share the experience with friends, you can do that too, either online with invited players voting on key decisions, or as a "party horror couch co-op experience where each player picks a counselor and controls their actions."

Fortunately we don't have to wait for the end of summer to play, as The Quarry is due to launch on Steam for Windows PC on June 10th, along with console versions for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X|S. (Note: online multiplayer functionality requires "the same PlayStation or Xbox console generation.") Pre-orders are available now, either for the standard version (game only) or a Deluxe Edition, which includes a number of exclusive goodies.
