Labyrinth deLux: A Crusoe Tale to beam in next month

Uncovering the mysteries of abandoned space stations is one of the staples of science fiction films. In Labyrinth deLux: A Crusoe Tale, an upcoming new VR puzzle game from German developer Enigma Film, you will find yourself in just such a situation, where you must use the ancient technology available to find your way out.

A space trucker named Robin is knocked unconscious on the way back to Earth, awakening to find herself trapped in a dark and creepy temple-like place and caught in a time loop. This ancient cube-like station seems to draw inspiration from Mayan and Aztec civilisations, with cavernous spaces adorned with carvings of mysterious figures and glyphs, recesses, tunnels and pillars. Robin is accompanied by her AI companion, Friday, who will help to solve a series of puzzles, "uncover alien secrets" and "decipher the mysterious story of an ancient alien race" in the process of learning who built this strange station, and why – and more importantly, how to escape it.

Labyrinth deLux presents players with sixteen expansive rooms, each of which must be exited in turn by solving the "mind-bending puzzles" within them. The objective is to hit targets in each room with a laser, but this is more difficult than it sounds as you'll have to use a system of "rotatable mirrors, wall mirrors and prisms" to redirect light beams around obstacles and corners. Each room is a separate test and the puzzles are "multi-layered," designed to "challenge even the most quick-witted puzzlers." Making things even more complex, the first-person perspective heightens the sense of disorientation as you use "magnetic shoe locomotion" to defy gravity and traverse the floors, walls and ceilings of the vast spaces to interact with the station's ancient technology. Along the way are various nods and references to classic films and pop culture, as you seek a way back to your space truck and "a truth beyond your imagination."

Labyrinth deLux: A Crusoe Tale will be available on March 3rd for Oculus (Meta) Quest, Quest 2 and Steam VR devices. In the meantime, you can also take a look at the game's official website for more information.
